President William Ruto has announced plans to roll out new police uniforms in the coming weeks.
Speaking during the launch of the National Police and State Department of Correctional Services Strategic Plans 2023-2027, the president noted that he would soon engage the police leadership to set the dates for the rollout of the new uniforms.
According to President Ruto, the government’s decision to roll out the new police uniforms was aimed at inspiring the officers in their work.

“As I said before, we will engage the policemen and women so that we can have an appropriate uniform. I know that has been agreed upon, and what is awaiting is the rollout. We will make sure that we give our policemen and women uniforms that inspire them to work and to go forward, that is something that we are going to do,”Ruto said.
Ruto further expressed the government’s commitment to provide additional vehicles to ease their operations.
Ruto explained that the government is currently on the verge of procuring 1000 additional vehicles.
Moreover, he stated that by early next year, the government would distribute the first 1000 vehicles to various police stations across the country, adding that the remaining 2000 would be given later in the year.
Talking about the housing challenges facing police officers, President Ruto revealed that the government was on the brink of completing 17000 housing units that would be handed to police officers.
“We intend to make sure that many of our police officers who discharge a very sensitive responsibility of protecting all of our work in condition that helps them to discharge that responsibility better,” Ruto noted.
