7 Hospitalised After Fire Breaks Out at JKUAT University Hostel

Students at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology woke up  into disarray on Tuesday, after a fire broke out in one of their hostels while they were asleep.

At around 3 am, students were forced to flee for safety after a fire erupted at Hall 5 within the institution.

According to the reports, about seven students were injured in the incident and they were rushed to hospital by the management of JKUAT for further treatment.

Firefighters and disaster management teams arrived promptly at the scene and successfully contained the fire before it could spread to other buildings.

Details about the extent of the damage remained unclear as authorities, including detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, continued to investigate the incident.

This was the second consecutive time a fire had affected an accommodation facility, with no significant intervention taken to address the issue.
