Gachagua speaks after Maina Njenga\’s chaos at wife Dorcas event

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has finally broken silence after chaos erupted in an event hosted by his wife Dorcas Rigathi on January 18, 2025. The wife was hosting a prayer event in Nyeri when Maina Njenga, accompanied by youths, stormed in and disrupted the event. The situation forced Dorcas to vacate the event using the back exit. Reacting to this, Gachagua has accused the government for sending Njenga to frustrate his wife.  He moreover accused the government of unleashing criminal gangs to disrupt a peaceful prayer meeting. \”Unleashing the leader of an outlawed criminal gang and his goons to disrupt peaceful prayers and desecrate the altar is the lowest any Government can go no matter the level of desperation,\” Gachagua noted. After Dorcas the event, Njenga went to the tent where she was seated and took her place. Speaking at the gathering, Njenga challenged Gachagua to stop ethnic politics and instead forge an alliance with national leaders and promote unity among Kenyans. Gachagua and Njenga have always been against each other, with pundits claiming that Njenga is being used by the government to diminish Gachagua\’s prominence in Mt Kenya. Pastor Dorcas was in the company of Nyeri Deputy Governor David Wairui. The prayer event was happening at the Kamukunji Grounds in Nyeri, where Dorcus was scheduled to evangelise.

Nyandarua Senator John Methu Wants President Ruto to resign over the rise in abductions

Nyandarua Senator John Methu has demanded President William Ruto resign over the rise in abductions in the country.  “President Ruto has lost the moral authority and character, has shaken our very Christian foundations, has lost the presidential stature and allure, and has also failed the leadership and integrity test for his continuous breach of our constitution and must therefore immediately resign from office,” Ruto stated. According to him, President Ruto can no longer assure the country there is no secret force being used in the abductions.  Senator Methu based his calls on the revelations made by Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi, who revealed that Ruto’s intervention led to the release of his son, Leslie, who was abducted last year. The senator is a member of President Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA), which has begun to show signs of cracks since the ouster of Gachagua.  Moreover,t his is the first time a member of the party has directly asked the party leader to resign. The Senator joins the opposition that has also demanded the president resign.

Uhuru encourages Gen Z to Continue Fighting for Their Rights

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has recently encouraged Gen Z to continue fighting for their rights, barely two months after a symbolic ‘handshake’ with President William Ruto. Speaking during the burial of his cousin, veteran rally driver Kibathi Muigai on Friday, Uhuru expressed his thoughts over the rising influence of Kenyan youth on political discourse. “The problem of people nowadays is people are afraid. Gen Zs are the story of the future. Fight for your rights. Fight to ensure you are getting what is rightfully yours.Don\’t stand and watch as your wealth is taken from you. Everything is worth fighting for. If you do not fight for it, don\’t cry if it is taken away.” He moreover urged his daughter Ngina Kenyatta to join the fight, arguing it was time for him and his peers to rest and hand over the fight. His comment comes as a surprise to many since he has always shied away from speaking on politics since he left office in 2022. The call for youths to continue the fight came amid a spate of abductions targeting young people who have turned against the government online. Notably, Uhuru’s message for the youth comes a month after he meets with Ruto at his Ichaweri home on December 9.  The meeting was interpreted as Ruto making inroads into Mt Kenya following the ouster of Rigathi Gachagua.

Amad Diallo rescues Manchester United from embracing loss with incredible hatrick

Manchester United\’s comeback ensured them a hard-fought 3-1 win against Southampton at Old Trafford.  Three last-minute goals from Amad Diallo not only saved the Red Devils but also ensured them maximum points at home. Coming from the FA Cup win against Arsenal FC over the weekend, Manchester found themselves under pressure as they conceded first into the match.  Their joyous mood seemed to be short-lived in the first minutes of their Premier League match against Southampton.  Manuel Ugarte gifted the Saints the first goal, deflecting a corner into his net a couple of minutes before the half-time break. With a goal ahead, Southampton came back with the energy to defend their lead and bag home the three points but their efforts could not last them through the 45 minutes of the second half.  What seemed like a hard nut to crack finally cracked off in the 82nd minute from the solo Amad effort completing his run with the ball into the net to level the scores. Energized by this goal, United’s forward immediately piled up more pressure up front that bore fruits in the 90th-minute mark. The Ivorian came to aid by capitalizing on an Ericksen’s pass as he volleyed it in the net gifting the Reds the second goal and a lead. Just before the end of the 4 minutes of added time, the Saints seemed tired and confused. Up on a build-up from the back, Amad seized possession from Taylor Harwood-Bellis after the Reds super press right in front of the goal and simply knocked his third into an empty net. The hat-trick and three points added on another memorable and dramatic night at the Old Trafford. Amad Diallo’s message to the fans. “I am ready to play every position where the manager likes to put me. I am ready to fight for this club. I am so happy to play where the manager wants me to play and I am so happy to score a hat-trick.’’

Al-Shabaab Captive Pleads To Be Reunited With His Family After 9 Years, Family Confirms it’s Him

The family of a Kenya Defence Forces soldier who is reportedly held captive by Al-Shabaab militants for nine years, is calling on the government to assist in the release of their relative. Ibrahim went viral after a widely shared video showed him asking the Kenyan government for help to return home.  Ibrahim, dressed in a KDF uniform, said in the video that he has been held hostage by Al Shabaab in Somalia for nearly nine years. \”I am a Kenyan soldier. I joined the army in 1986. The Al-Shabaab captured me on January 15, 2016, during the Al-Shabaab raid at the KDF camp in El Adde,\” Ibrahim said. Responding to the video, his family narrated the pain they have endured for years, thinking that their long-lost kin is already dead. His daughter Kadra Abdullahi speaking to Citizen TV revealed that she received a call from an unfamiliar number in Somalia about a month before the video of her father went viral. Kadra said the caller identified himself as her long-lost father, leaving her shocked and confused as she struggled to believe the revelation.  \”We didn\’t have proof of him. I asked him to ask the guys holding him to send us a photo or a video of him so we could start a journey of how to help him. He then said that they would reach me through their media link,\” Kadra said.  According to the soldier\’s daughter, they had already come to terms with his death after the KDF issued a death certificate confirming it.  \”We did the burial procedures for my dad because we knew he was no more,\” she said. Abdullahi Issa Ibrahim was among the soldiers captured by militants during the deadly attack on the Kenyan-run AMISOM army base in El-Adde on January 15, 2016. The family now insists that those holding him hostage only wish to communicate with the Kenyan government in order to release him.

Jeremiah Kioni Responds to Gachagua Months After Calling for Alliance With Uhuru

Jeremiah Kioni, Jubilee Party Secretary General has finally sent a message to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua months after calls for unity with the former president. According to Kioni, the former ruling party\’s focus had been intact since 2017 and that Gachagua\’s change of stance would not deter the party\’s plan. \”We are happy that he is the one shooting best at his former boss but about where we want to go, we already knew where we were going even before 2017 and 2022. He has to be careful not to come and misdirect people and create false hopes. Getting Ruto out of power takes a lot more than making statements in the churches,\” Kioni stated. He went on to hail Gachagua for his change in stance and for being on the frontline in criticising and checking the Kenya Kwanza Government which he was part of and Jubilee was against. \”Our fight with Gachagua was against the difficulties Kenyans were going through. We were telling Rigathi Gachagua that he was bringing us a terrible product to the mountain. He never heard us, he insulted us.But now, we are happy that he is the one shooting best at his former boss.” Last year, Gachagua, who was still the DP, expressed willingness to work with Uhuru for the sake of Mt Kenya unity. The former DP reiterated that the election period was over and that they should work together to benefit Kenyans. \”Uhuru Kenyatta is our son, he should come so that we unite. Is that okay? Do you have a problem with him? The election period is over. We should unite as one region and love each other. If we fail to unite, we shall find ourselves in difficult situations,\” the former DP noted then.

‘Kenya One’ Patrick Matasi Exits Kenya PoLICE FC.

Having joined Kenya Police FC as a veteran goalkeeper with vast experience, Patrick Matasi is set to depart the law enforcers\’ camp during the midseason transfer window. Matasi joined Police FC from the Ruaraka-based side Tusker FC after a contractual tussle with Tusker maintaining that he remained to clear his contract while Police FC had offered a lucrative deal and a possible job in the Police Service.  Police FC had beefed up their squad and they needed a locally experienced shot-stopper, with all the stakes falling on one Patrick Matasi, ‘Kenya One ‘as he proudly calls himself. Matasi would then make the move to Police Fc in March 2023 and as well articulated he helped them to give both his former employer Tusker Fc and Gor Mahia a hefty run in the league although they finished third on the log.  The keeper’s arrival played a big role which was also witnessed in the Mozart Cup after he played vital roles in the knock-out matches. In the Finals he again went ahead to save two penalties in the post-match penalties to hand Police Fc the Mozart Cup Trophy at the Ulinzi Sports Complex. Things would then take a wrong turn after the top goalie started making dubious mistakes and conceding very easy goals in crucial matches.  The technical bench remained hopeful and kept handing him second chances but no change was witnessed leading to the team losing confidence in him handing over the starting role to the second-choice keeper Job Ochieng. The same was happening in the National team as Matasi was handed a starting 11 in several matches but again went ahead to commit lots of goal-keeping errors.  These consistent errors did not only keep him at loggerheads with his teammates but the fans as well.  Fans would go ahead to start calling for his omission from both the National team and Police squad. This led to him losing a slot in the National team until now.  The second chances came to an end after their match against Kakamega Homeboyz after he conceded what was termed as an easy last-minute goal sealed his exit fate.  It is after this match that he went ahead to post on his social media handles about a goodbye to the Police Sacco-based club although his next destination remains unclear.
