He went on to question  the government over its silence on the matter urging for swift action to be taken.  He mourned the death of the activist calling for tolerance in the country stating that the murder of Otieno epitomizes the decision by the ruling administration to quell opposition in the country. \”As we mourn the death of this promising young man, who was a great human rights defender and champion, we call for justice. His killers must be brought to book come what may,\” Gachagua noted. According to Gacagua, the level of political intolerance and repression is reaching unproportionate and alarming levels that cannot be taken lightly. \”The gruesome and brutal murder of Richard Otieno of Molo over the weekend is a clear testimony of another strategy of infusing fear among Kenyans in a pathetic and archaic strategy to silence government critics after failed abductions.” Gachagua in his tweet did not forget to commiserate with the family of Otieno praising the late for standing for justice in Molo. Notably, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has also criticized the government in what he termed as an attempt to submerge justice and shelter the perpetrator behind the attack. \”There is no need for the DCI to investigate the gruesome death of Richard Otieno from Molo constituency since the killer is well known.Let the leader take responsibility for killing this young man. He should be charged for murdering Richard,\” Owino stated. The activist  was brutally murdered by unknown assailants on his way home from a bar on Saturday night.  Reports indicate that the robbers hit him on the buckhead with an axe which resulted in the activist\’s death on the spot.

CS Aden Duale Questions Uhuru After He Encouraged Gen Z to Continue Fighting for Their Rights

Environment Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has recently criticised former President Uhuru Kenyatta after he urged the youth to stand up and fight for their rights. Speaking during the alumni gathering of Garissa High School on Saturday, CS Duale criticised Uhuru\’s remarks, describing them as insightful and undermining the government of President William Ruto. He further described the former President\’s remarks as reckless for a leader of his stature and urged the political class to lead by example for the youth.  Duale maintained that such statements could promote unrest and should not come from a leader of Uhuru\’s caliber. \’\’It is very unfortunate if we the leaders, current and former, set the stage where we tell the young people of our nation to commit acts of violence and disobedience. I think by doing so, we lose the moral high ground,\’\’ Duale stated. According to Duale, Uhuru as a former President should strive to see a united and peaceful country.  The former president while attending the burial of his relative on Friday, asked the Gen Z to stand up and fight for their rights and not let what they toiled for be taken away from them. “The problem of people nowadays is people are afraid. Gen Zs are the story of the future. Fight for your rights. Fight to ensure you are getting what is rightfully yours.Don\’t stand and watch as your wealth is taken from you. Everything is worth fighting for. If you do not fight for it, don\’t cry if it is taken away.” Uhuru urged.

Nyandarua Senator John Methu Wants President Ruto to resign over the rise in abductions

Nyandarua Senator John Methu has demanded President William Ruto resign over the rise in abductions in the country.  “President Ruto has lost the moral authority and character, has shaken our very Christian foundations, has lost the presidential stature and allure, and has also failed the leadership and integrity test for his continuous breach of our constitution and must therefore immediately resign from office,” Ruto stated. According to him, President Ruto can no longer assure the country there is no secret force being used in the abductions.  Senator Methu based his calls on the revelations made by Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi, who revealed that Ruto’s intervention led to the release of his son, Leslie, who was abducted last year.
