Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua Appears in Public Giving Updates About His Health

Rigathi Gachagua has finally appeared in public for the first time giving details related to his health days after he failed to show up to the Senate to testify. Appearing weak and in a somber mood, the former DP stated that were it not for quick medical intervention, he would have been no more. “As we speak, I am okay. I little bit weak but I feel better. The chest pains have gone away. I want to thank those who took their time to see me. I want to say I would remain forever indebted to them. After I stabilised, he (the doctor) did tell me that had I been late for another 20 minutes, you would be told a different story today.” Rigathe Gachagua has further revealed that his security detail was withdrawn after he was rushed to the hospital.  “President withdrew all my guards. Again to cripple the functions. All officers in my office to be sent on compulsory leave.’’ Gachagua was impeached by members of the senate after the motion was presented to the chamber by MPs who had also passed the impeachment motion that had 11 charges against him. He becomes the first ever Deputy President to be  impeached by senators and MPs since the introduction of the 2010 constitution. He has however filled a case to the high court challenging his  impeachment done by the senate and the parliament.

Activist Hussein Khalid Arrested while leading a group of activists to hold an event at Nairobi’s Uhuru Park

Human rights activist Hussein Khalid was arrested while leading a group of activists to hold an event at Nairobi’s Uhuru Park. The activist was addressing the press at the time of the arrest after police cordoned off the entrance to the venue from hundreds of youth who were slowly gathering to enter the venue.  The arrest came moments after police lobbed teargas canisters at a group of youth who had assembled within Nairobi Central Business District with plans to march to Uhuru Park Grounds. Earlier, Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja had warned individuals who were planning to converge at the park to honour victims of police brutality who died during the anti-government protests in Nairobi and other parts of the country. ‘’Uhuru Park has been open and remains open to the public every day. Every Kenyan is allowed to come and is welcome to enjoy their Park. You can also book for events. A public park is, however, not available to be reserved for exclusive use during a public holiday. Other Kenyans will also want to enjoy it. It can be reserved on any other day. Come on a one-on-one basis, no need for seeking permissions.’’ This came after some citizen groups had gone to concerned authorities to seek permission to use the venue for an event scheduled to run alongside Mashujaa Day celebrations that were being held in Kwale County.   Boniface Mwangi, who is also an activist, had earlier reported that police had blocked them from holding their event at the park. ‘’We have been stopped from accessing Uhuru Park. He has deployed police officers, and l was told we are not allowed in there. I was with my wife and children. The police officers, and county employees manning the gate said they’re simply following orders.’’ There were plans to hold a mega Mashujaa event so as to honour those who died during the anti finance bill earlier this year.

Questions Arise On MP Mwengi Mutuse’s Degree After His Respond Behaviours During Gachagua’s Impeachment At The Senate

Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse has recently found himself under scrutiny yet again despite his recent victory against impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. This time,MP Mutuse has received criticism from former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga, who boldly suggested the lawmaker’s degree should be revoked. The former CJ’s remark was triggered by a satirical cartoon carried in a local daily, which painted the picture of how Mutuse was torn to shreds earlier this week by a member of Gachagua’s counsel Elisha Ongoya.  “Mutuse wallowed in his newfound ‘stardom’… until he met Ongoya who promptly turned him into a weasel.’’ In response,Willy Mutunga chided with a subtle jab stating that Mutuse’s law degree should be revoked. “Do you have a dog in this circus, comrade? I doubt. The Mutuse comment is apt. They should recall Mutuse’s law degree and KSL diploma Mutuse, who brought forth the impeachment motion against Gachagua before the National Assembly earlier in October with 11 damaging allegations, was left sweating on Wednesday, October 16 after former  DP’s legal team cross- examined him. In one instance, the mover of the impeachment motion struggled to explain the allegations surrounding the Vipingo Beach Resort, a central asset in the impeachment case.

I am currently in Narok; some of my people are injured at Ololulunga in Narok. I am unable to communicate with anyone who can contact the police to come to the tarmac from Ololulunga to Mau.” This was the second attack on the activist who is mostly known for exposing unfinished government projects across the country.
