The late Winnie Ndubi was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer Bwire succumbed to the illness on 5th September while still in Turkey. Winne Ndubi Bwire has finally been laid to rest in her hometown Mumias, Kakamega county. The late was popularly known from the role she played as ‘Dida’ in the drama series Sultana. She was battling metastatic breast cancer and she succumbed to the illness on 5th September 2024 while in Turkey. The sad news of her passing was announced the same day by her family. “It is with heavy hearts and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce Winfred Bwire Ndubi lost her battle with cancer on September 5, 2024, while undergoing treatment in Turkey. We thank you all for your overwhelming support, prayers, and generous giving during her treatment. We will share more details in due course.” Her body was later airlifted to Kenya, a memorial and candlelit service was held in Mombasa. Yesterday her body was again airlifted to Kisumu before it was transported by road to Kakamega county where she has been laid to rest. Lulu Hassan was among the filmmakers who attended the burial and she was accompanied by actors and actresses from her company Jiffy Pictures. The media personnel pinned a tribute from Jiffy Pictures which described the late Bwire as a darling, sister and daughter further explaining that she joined their family back in 2021 when they launched the drama series Sultana where she played the role of Dida. “She was not only exceptionally talented; she had a unique ability to infuse her characters with a blend of strength, vulnerability, and grace, making her performances unforgettable. Her talent was matched by her work ethic; her contribution to Sultana was nothing short of extraordinary.’’ Lulu concluded by stating that Winnie Bwire will be remembered for her exceptional talent, dedication, bravery and kind heart. Bwire’s mum also pinned her tribute and opened up on battling with breast cancer herself.She noted that she is a survivor of it and she was diagnosed back in 2015 “I am a breast cancer survivor in 2015, so this journey, I know it very well,people are not getting awareness, I would like us or the government to put emphasis on the awareness as opposed to the treatment.’’ The late Bwire was described as a fighter by many who gave their tributes. Sakaja responds to the DP who he thinks is inciting Marikiti Traders against the new measures the country is taking. His response came after the DP visited the market and addressed the traders. Taking a message to his X account, the governor seemed to be totally against what Rigathi Gachagua did during his visit to Marikiti. Sakaja stated by noting that he has avoided responding to the Deputy Presidents’ tribal attributes for long but he left him no choice this time. The statement came after the DP visited Marikiti and according to Sakaja Rigathi chose to use falsehoods to incite traders against the measures the county government is taking. “This morning, in a misinformed tribal diatribe, and while speaking in vernacular in the heart of our nation’s capital, you have chosen to use falsehoods to incite traders against the measures we are taking.’’ The governor continued to address the issues the DP highlighted starting with the issue of relocating the Marikiti Markert which according to Sakaja selected produce will be delivered wholesale to the other markets and the have built it using taxpayers’ money adding that they will be moved to Kangundo Road Market. “My government has no plan to relocate the Marikiti Market. Selected produce will be delivered wholesale to other markets we have built using taxpayers’ money. What we will not allow are traders endangering their lives by selling their ware on the road side. They will move to Kangundo Road Market.however if you have sufficient space outside in your office on Harambee Avenue, I’m sure they will be happy to display their wares and ply their trade in that safe environment.’’ The governor did not also fail to assure the Deputy President that he has involved the traders who are affected and they have fully accepted noting he has even met with their leaders personally. “You have asked that consultation with the affected traders be held. My government has continuously engaged our people and I personally met the leadership of Wakulima/Marikiti Market last week.
