Manchester City Held to Draw, ‘Cold’ Palmer Destroys Brighton As Liverpool and Arsenal Win

Saturday football in Game Week 6 of the Premier League saw a lot happen that brought more competition in this season’s campaign. Manchester City was the first team to go out at 2.30 pm EAT, away at Newcastle United, a team that was missing their best striker Isak. However that proved to have no effect on The Magpies as they ensured to keep City at bay and even at times put them under a lot of pressure. In the second half, Gordon kept himself onside to land in a lovely through pass, dribbled past Ederson who took him down for a penalty that he converted himself. The game ended in a draw. Despite Brighton getting two sloppy and easy goals, It was pretty comfortable for Chelsea who had a gameplan to counter Fabian Hürzeler’s men. Arsenal ended winning comfortably despite a huge scare as recently promoted Leicester came back from two goals down in the first half to put The Gunners in serious pressure. Wilfred Ndindi gave Arsenal the three points after scoring an own goal late in the game to send his side into the bottom 5 in the league. Liverpool Go Top As for Liverpool, they had a penalty to thank for their narrow win against Wolves away on Saturday night. Salah converted the penalty just minutes after Wolves had gotten an equalizer from Ait-Nouri in a moment imbrahim Konate will want to forget. The win saw Liverpool go top of the table and will end this game week as leaders. Manchester United welcome Tottenham Hotspurs to the Old Trafford today and both will be hoping to keep pace with the front runners. Both clubs have had an inconsistency start to the season and they will look to put each other on the sword to get the three points, which will give either great spirits going forward. A draw will not help either.

Faith Kipyegon to be Rewarded 7.7 million After Winning 1500m at Athlos

Kenyan athlete Faith Kipyegon has secured a victory in the 1500m race at Athlos event in New York Icahn Stadium. The inaugural women-only NYC meet took place on 26th September 2024. It was a celebration of women’s athletics launched by entrepreneur Alexis Ohanian. The event was also to address lack of inconsistent media coverage track and fields outside Olympics. The event offered the largest prize in the history of sports winners earning USD 60,000. Faith made a stunning performance by crossing the line in 4 minutes 4.79 seconds to claim victory as Dribe Welteji took second and Susan took third. The middle- distance runner had won the 2024 Paris Olympics by setting a new record of 3:51.29 claiming her 1500 meters gold medal for a third consecutive time. The victory made her the first athletic female to win three consecutive Olympic golds in the 1500m forming a legacy as the greatest female 1500m athlete in history. The world record holder had recently gained recognition in the Academy of Achievements. Mary Moraa, a Kenyan athlete was also participant at the event. She finished second in the 800m Olympic bronze with 58.05 seconds. The only Kenyans who completed at the inaugural event were Ejore, Mary Moraa and faith Kipyegon. Faith Kipyegon said after winning the race that it was a good race, although she started her season very late because of a small problem, she felt strong.

Kenyan athletes Faith Kipyegon and Beatrice Chebet have been awarded the Academy of Achievement awards in the United States having gained recognition. Faith has been the current world record holder for the 1,500 metres and former world recorder holder for the 5,000 metres. Beatrice Chebet has been the third woman in history as the world record holder for 10,000 metres and gold medallist at the 2024 summer Olympics. He applauded them during the dinner of the golden plate awards ceremony at the Lincoln Centre in New York on September 22nd 2024. Ruto helped award them by presenting the medal to them. The two athletes looked beautiful and were dressed in elegant dresses as they received the awards. The head of state therefore congratulated them for the award. The extra ordinary honour is a solid tribute to your hardwork, talent and dedication to athletics. No doubt, it will inspire upcoming athletics and help shape our county’s sport Ruto said as he still congratulated them. Academy of achievement is a nonprofit educational organization that recognizes some of the highest-achieving people in different fields and gives them opportunity to meet one another. It was founded by Blaine Reynolds, an acclaimed photographer. It brings leaders together with promising graduate students for mentorship.

Manchester United Drop Points, as Chelsea and Liverpool Shine with Huge Wins

Liverpool and Chelsea won their matches in Gameweek 5 as Manchester United were held to a draw by Crystal Palace. Chelsea won 3-0 against West Ham United at the London stadium with a resounding performance away from home. Nicholas Jackson and Cole Palmer were the men on target as the Senegalese international got 2 goals in the first half. The lead continued shortly after the break as Palmer fired a left-foot strike, which gave Chelsea a comfortable 3-0 win. The match between Manchester united and Crystal Palace at Selhurst park ended in a goalless draw with United dominating the game. Andre Onana had to perform a double save to deny Palace a scoring chance, but former Red Devils goalkeeper Dean Henderson kept several chances away from his goal to ensure the game ended goalless. Liverpool also won 3-0 at home to Bournemouth to return to winning ways after a disappointing defeat at home to Nottingham Forest. The goals were fired by Darwin Nunez who scored one and Luis Diaz who scored two goals. Liverpool goals were all scored in the first half and there was no coming back for Bournemouth despite some good chances.

President William Ruto Shows Off His Footballing Skills During a Match at State House

Junior starlets, Kenya’s under U17s football team, have made histroy after qualifying for the world cup. The team was hosted by President William Ruto at State House on Wednesday, 18th Sepetember. During his speech, President Ruto congratulated the team and said he was very happy with the collaboration between the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Sports. He said he was very happy that the ladies were to go to Spain to participate then come back to Kenya and still do their exams as intended. President William Ruto participated in a friendly match with them. He put on jersey no 9 as the main striker representing the white team against the green team. Ruto officially handed them the Kenyan flag as he bid them off.

President William Ruto Meets CAF President Patrice as Kenya Gears Up to Host AFCON 2027

Kenya is among the countries that is going to host AFCON 2027 together with Tanzania and Uganda organized by Confederation of African Football. Ahead of the AFCON 2027, CAF President Patrice visited Kenya and met with President William Ruto at State House Nairobi. He visited Kasarani, Nyayo and Talanta stadium as renovation continued to inspect and ensure that nothing went wrong. In his visit, a new white jersey got launched. President William  Ruto said Kenya was ready to host AFCON 2027, even mentioning the Talanta stadium, which is currently under construction and would hold up to 60,000 fans. This had brought along creation of new jobs to Kenyan which had been a good opportunity. Kenyans  are looking forward  to AFCON 2027 and were pleased with the progress especially with the launching of the new jersey.

Mary Moraa, 25 years from kisii western Kenyan who is coached by Alex Sang wins women 800 m race at 2024 Brussels diamond league. Being a legend that she is, her win records a season’s best time of 1:56:56. She has been one of the most promising athletes in Kenya having won the gold medal at the 2023 world athletics championships. She also won a bronze a bronze medal at 2022 world athletics championship and gold at common wealth games. This has been her career onset since being an orphan, she won an education bursary through running. Many Kenyans are thrilled by her performance. They have been congratulating her on her Instagram and tiktok accounts.

Since ensuring he left Manchester United, Ten Hag and Cristiano Ronaldo’s relationship went from bad to worst. The two are now throwing jabs at each other from different parts of the world. During a recent interview with fellow United legend Rio Ferdinand, Ronaldo was quick to note that his former club, Man United, shouldn’t be thinking about not winning the league, but have hope and faith that anything can happen. This came after Ten Hag quotes noting his side was not ready to win the league but a few years behind. Responding to this, The Portuguse star said Manchester United should always try to win the big trophies and never admit to being a few details behind. “Mentally you can say maybe we don’t have that potential, but I cannot say that. We’re going to try, you have to try,” Ronaldo said. Ten Hag hits back at Ronaldo criticism In his press conference ahead of the away game against Southampton F.C, Ten Hag was quick to respond to Ronaldo, saying he believed the Saudi footballer said that Manchester United cannot win the league. He even threw in an extra jab, pretty much displaying that Ronaldo wasn’t that important and his comments mean’t less to him. “So he’s far away in Saudi, far from Manchester. Everyone is entitled to have an opinion. It’s ok.” United fans unhappy with Ten Hag However, it seems United fans are slowly losing respect for Ten Hag and supporting their legend in this fight.
