Kenyan athlete Faith Kipyegon has secured a victory in the 1500m race at Athlos event in New York Icahn Stadium.

The inaugural women-only NYC meet took place on 26th September 2024.
It was a celebration of women’s athletics launched by entrepreneur Alexis Ohanian.
The event was also to address lack of inconsistent media coverage track and fields outside Olympics.
The event offered the largest prize in the history of sports winners earning USD 60,000.
Faith made a stunning performance by crossing the line in 4 minutes 4.79 seconds to claim victory as Dribe Welteji took second and Susan took third.
The middle- distance runner had won the 2024 Paris Olympics by setting a new record of 3:51.29 claiming her 1500 meters gold medal for a third consecutive time.
The victory made her the first athletic female to win three consecutive Olympic golds in the 1500m forming a legacy as the greatest female 1500m athlete in history.
The world record holder had recently gained recognition in the Academy of Achievements.
Mary Moraa, a Kenyan athlete was also participant at the event.
She finished second in the 800m Olympic bronze with 58.05 seconds.
The only Kenyans who completed at the inaugural event were Ejore, Mary Moraa and faith Kipyegon.
Faith Kipyegon said after winning the race that it was a good race, although she started her season very late because of a small problem, she felt strong.
