Diamond Platnumz has finally explained his absence at the Furaha City Festival held at the Nairobi Polo Club last weekend.
According to Diamond, his commitment to professionalism and adherence to performance schedules was the primary reason why he refused to perform.
He explained that he arrived at the venue three hours before his scheduled time, but poor event management by the organisers caused significant delays.
“I cannot be paid $150,000 and then fight to get on stage. I’ll arrive at the venue on time and wait for the organiser to invite me to perform at the agreed time. I will keep track of my allocated time, and if it runs out, I will leave, keeping the payment,” Diamond stated.
The artist moreover noted that he does not engage in disputes with fellow artists or negotiate for stage time, underscoring his disciplined approach to his music career.
“I don’t have time to argue with event organisers or fight with artists to get my turn to perform. This is simply how I maintain discipline in my craft,” he added.
Talking about Willy paul’s allegation that his management prevented him from performing at the festival, he dismissed the accusations, calling them baseless and an attempt to attract attention.

“It would be foolish for me to do that—how does it even make sense? I was the headlining act, meaning all other artists were to perform before me, and I would close the show. Willy Paul is just fabricating stories for clout because he’s still chasing fame,” Diamond remarked.
He also criticised the event organisers for their poor planning, which he said disrupted the event’s success.
The artist called on regional artists and organisers to improve their standards, fostering a better environment for performances.
