The relocation came before the marathon debut in New York that year in a race which she finished sixth.
They say that in life, opportunities knock at your door only once. Had I stayed in Kenya, I could have been in a rural community, even running, but the spotlight is always men. In the United States, however, women are valued.
Hellen Obiri said.
My mindset expanded greatly while living in the U.S. You feel appreciated and strive to work harder and grow. Women need to support more women. Today, I feel truly honored.
She added.
The 34-year-old won the Boston Marathon in 2023 and concluded with a victory at the New York City Marathon.
In the 2024 season, she began with a win in the Boston marathon before securing the bronze medal at the Paris Olympics.

People here know me. When I train, they ‘Hey Hellen, we saw you in Paris during (the Olympics) closing, you did so well, well done.
With this, the athlete is optimistic and hopes that the love from the Americans will motivate her to more victory in the coming years.
