Wanyeki’s misery began in 2007 when he was accused of defiling his daughters aged seven and nine.
He was initially sentenced to 20 years in prison, but his sentence was later accelerated to life imprisonment after he had filed for an appeal.
In 2020, the case took another turn when his younger daughter, now aged 24 admitted that her story had been falsified.
She discoursed that her relatives and a police officer had persuaded her into falsely accusing her father in the midst of a family dispute over their late grandfather’s Ksh50 million estate.
Kiambu High Court Judge Dorah Chepkwony had ordered for the retrial of the case.
This had to be awaited as the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions needed additional time to respond to Wanyeki’s lawyer application who was seeking for his release.
The matter was later on mentioned before Principal Magistrate Stella Atambo on 4th December who was released on a cash bail of Ksh. 100, 000.

The chief Magistrate also ordered Wanyeki to report to OCS Ruiru Police Station once every two weeks on Tuesdays at 9: 00 am as submitted by the prosecution.
The applicant must not be into contact with the maternal grandmother of the complainant or his mother-in-law and must desist contact with brother-in-law and if it happens it will construe as a threat to the life of the wo people mentioned above.
The Magistrate also said.
For the past 17 years, i have learnt a lot. This is not the Wanyeki people knew in 2007. I have been transformed and made a new person I have been trained in how to live peacefully with people. I thank court so much.
Wanyeki said.
His family deposited the cash bail, and they headed to Ruiru police station.
The therefore went home.
His case will be mentioned in January 2025.
