Another Blow For Gachagua As The High Court Declines To Stop The Impeachment Motion

Blow for Rigathi Gachagua as the High Court declines to stop the tabling of his impeachment motion in the National Assembly. This is the second time that the High Court is declining to stop the motion from happening. Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has been dealt another blow after the High Court  declined to issue interim orders to halt his impeachment motion. The petition was presented by Cleophas Malala, a former UDA secretary general, who had moved to court seeking orders to block the impeachment motion against Gachagua. Judge Bahati Mwamuye has however declined to grant interim orders stopping the impeachment proceedings, this being the second time that Malala has filed the petition. In Malala’s petition, he argued that the composition of both the Senate and the National Assembly violated constitutional gender rules, as outlined in the Kenyan Constitution. On Thursday last week, the High Court declined to issue orders stopping public participation in a motion tabled before the National Assembly.  The deputy president is expected to appear before the National Assembly to defend himself over the allegations leveled against him.

Renowned Kenyan activist Morara Kebaso has called out police IG Douglas Kanja and the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mohamed Amin to arrest goons who attacked him at Bomas of Kenya on Friday. In a recent press briefing at his home in Nairobi, the spokesperson of Morara’s family asked Kanja to arrest the perpetrators  who attacked Kebaso with immediate effect.  “The IG and your team, where are those people who attacked Kebaso before the media? Can we see them being arraigned in court? That is our request, while a frail Kebaso looked on. We are here to condemn what happened at the Bomas of Kenya when the young man Morara was attacked.” Last week during the DP’s impeachment public participation exercise, Morara was denied entry to the venue at Bomas of Kenya and after a while he was allowed to enter with his security personnels and hell broke loose when he took to the stage to give his opinions. The family further reminded the perpetrators that Kebaso has a family and needs to be respected and protected like any citizen of Kenya. “Kebaso has a family where he is coming from, he has a region where he comes from.” The family concluded by noting that they will leave the matter to God to avenge them.  “Those who attacked Morara Kebaso at Bomas, his blood is calling out. Kasmuel McOure Addresses Allegation oF Being A Sell-Out After The Bomas Incident

Kasmuel denies claims that he has been bought by the government. This comes after the activist failed to address an attack on Morara Kebaso at the Bomas of Kenya when he was given a chance to speak Activist Kasmuel McOure has recently gone on a wild tirade on social media as he sought to battle some of his critics who referred to him as a sell-out.  He has slammed online users as he boldly denied  claims he had been ‘bought’ by someone in government. This comes after he failed to address an attack on Morara Kebaso at the Bomas of Kenya on October 4th during a public participation exercise against the DP.  After Morara was booted from the hall, Kasmuel was given the mic but steered clear of the incident that had transpired moments earlier involving his peer and fellow activist. McOure earned criticism online from that and things boiled over on Sunday when the activist decided to directly respond to those calling him out. “If I ever sell my integrity, I’ll be the first to make it known. If you have proof of the little I’ve received, table it,” he said. “I say this because you don’t support me for who I am, but because it’s inconvenient for who you’re against, therefore convenient for you.” On the issue of  threats from online users about de-platforming him, the activist noted that he would continue with his cause even if he lost his over 141k followers on X.  “Why would anyone threaten me with de-platforming? The real challenge is deplatforming me from your mothers’ hearts because they see beyond the nonsense and sensationalism you’re trying to advance.” The activist came to fame in June during the finance bill protest.

Ole Sapit

Archbishop Ole Sapit: “The impeachment motion should be set aside and dialogue given a chance’’

Ole Sapit asks the President and his Deputy to opt for a dialogue rather than impeachment According to him the impeachment will definitely divide Kenyans. Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit of the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) has recently called for the abandonment of the impeachment of DP Rigathi Gachagua. The archbishop called on President Ruto and his Deputy President to give dialogue a chance stating that the impeachment will divide the country. According to him, the impeachment would set a bad precedent polarising the country along ethnic lines which is detrimental to national unity. “The impeachment motion should be set aside and dialogue given a chance. The president and his deputy should sit and discuss their differences as leaders.” He further criticized the President and his deputy for failing to show leadership by giving dialogue a chance arguing that they were elected to lead the country. “As national leaders in this country, the best way to show a good example to Kenyans is by holding a mediation and solving their differences.’’ His statement comes as Gachagua is expected to appear before parliament  to defend himself against 11 accusations before MPs take a vote.
