Kahush Spotted At Father Mutahi Kagwe\’s Swearing-in Despite Criticizing Ruto\’s Regime

Mutahi Kagwe has been sworn in as the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock. He was sworn in on January 17th, 2025. During the swearing in, the son of Mutahi Kagwe rapper Kahush was spotted during the event. Kagwe was sworn in together with William Kabogo who was sworn in as the CS for information and communication, digital and economy and Lee Kinyanjui was also sworn in as the CS for Investments, Trade and Industry. The swearing-in ceremony was presided by President William Ruto which took place at State House Nairobi with Kagwe being the first one to take the oath. Despite attending Mutahi Kagwe\’s swearing at State House, the rapper had produced a music criticizing Ruto\’s government. Azziad Nasenya\’s Colleagues Defend Her Over Unpaid Debts Allegations

Kenya actress and digital creator Azziad Nasenya\’s colleagues defend her amid debt allegations. She was recently accused of faking her lavish lifestyle and accumulating large amounts of debts. Blogger Edgar Obare had exposed the allegations on his X channel claiming that Azziad had borrowed money and failed to return. With the accusations, the actress faced so much criticism from online fans for portraying an extravagant lifestyle while struggling financially. Ex-Tana River County Officials Arrested in Ksh. 9M Tender Fraud Case

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives have arrested eight former Tana River County officials. The former County officials were arrested on Thursday 16th January 2024 in the evening. They had allegedly awarded an irregular tender of Ksh. 9million. The suspects included Former County Chief Officer for Public Service Fatuma Azra, Former Principal Supply Chain Management Officer Abashora Swaleh Salad, Building Inspector with the Department of Public Works Ali Dhidha Hussein and Former supply Management officer Isaa Funani Bere. The other officials included Mohamed Natse, Kevin Simiyu Wafula, Fatuma Napasha Hussein Electro, Al-Karim Agencies one of the companies that had been contracted to fence the wildlife offices and staff quarters in Hola town. The suspect among 14 individuals implicated in the case will be arraigned in court at the Hola Chief Magistrate Court on Friday as others in hiding are still being searched for and urged to surrender to relevant authorities. The suspects will be charged with five offences which will include engaging in a project without prior planning, fraudulent practices in procurement, forgery, conspiracy and failure to comply with procurement laws.

Zuchu Threatens Legal Action, Plans Defamation Suit Against Wasafi FM

Tanzania singer Zuchu has announced plans to sue Wasafi Fm and her boss Diamond Platnumz. The decision came after a section aired on Wasafi Fm owned by Diamond mocked Zuch by alleging that the singer was desperate and pressuring Diamond into marriage. Zuchu was mocked by the hosts of the station who alleged that she was desperate to be married to Diamond. What is happening now on the internet through the contents of your program? US Embassy Nairobi To Close On Monday For Martin Luther King Jr.Day

The United States (US) embassy Nairobi will be closed on Monday January 20th, 2025. The Embassy announced on their X account formerly known as twitter on Friday 17th January 2025. The embassy will be closed on Monday, January 20th, 2025, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.  The U.S Embassy Nairobi stated. The Martin Luther King Jr. Day officially his birthday is a federal holiday in the United States observed on the third Monday of January each year. The earliest Monday for the holiday is January 15 and the latest is January 21. The campaign for a Federal holiday in King Martin\’s honor began soon after his assassination in 1968 and was observed three years later on January 20th, 1986. Babu Owino Cautions Raila Odinga Against Supporting Sakaja For 2027 Election

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has warned Raila Odinga against endorsing Governor Johnson Sakaja for Nairobi Gubernatorial seat in the 2027 elections. This he said while addressing the press on Thursday January 16th, 2025. The Member of Parliament questioned Odinga\’s decision revealing that Governor Johnson Sakaja had never supported Raila\’s political career since 2007 when the former Prime Minister vied for Presidency up to 2022. He has never wanted Raila Odinga, he wanted Kibaki, he wanted Uhuru Kenyatta in 2013 and 2017, this is a person who is not coming with clean hands.  Babu Owino said. This is a person who does not love Raila, he has never sacrificed anything for him, even going to Ethiopia is just a gimmick, so Raila should know better.  The lawmaker added. While stating, Babu Owino advised Raila Odinga to reconsider his decision and support him instead. Not even Kidero did the worst thing Sakaja has done, not even Mike Sonko. Sugar Prices Set To Surge As New Levy Takes Effect In February

Consumers are set to pay more for sugar starting February 1st, 2025. This followed the introduction of a new tax on the sweetener. Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale officially gazetted the Sugar Development Levy Order, 2025, which imposes a levy of four percent on both domestic and imported sugar. The new levy followed the signing into law of the Sugar Act of 2024 by President William Ruto three months ago. There is hereby imposed a levy, as prescribed in section 40(1) of the sugar Act 2024, at the rate of four per cent of the value for domestic sugar and four percent of CIF (cost of insurance and freight) value on imported sugar.  Aden Duale stated. The levy shall be remitted to the board not later than the 10th day of the month following the month during which the levy shall become due.  Aden Duale added. The funds that will be collected from the Sugar Development Levy will be used to support various operations within the sugar industry, including the price stabilization, infrastructure development and research. The allocations from the levy will be set as follows: 15 per cent for factory development, 15 per cent for research, 40 per cent for cane productivity, 15 per cent for infrastructure in sugar-cane-producing regions, 10 per cent for KSB administration and 5 per cent for farmers\’ organization. The new tax will be expected to accelerate the cost of sugar which had recently seen a significant price drop.

Next Phase For Petition Seeking The Removal Of CJ Martha Koome And All Supreme Court Judges

The Judiciary Service Commission (JSC) has announced a petition against CJ Martha Koome and all the supreme court judges that was filed on 13th January 2025. The JSC Vice Chairperson Isaac Ruto issued a statement against the matter on 16th January 2025. The petition dated 10th January 2025 seek to remove CJ Martha Koome and all the Supreme Court judges was filed by the former LSK President Nelson Havi. Although Nelson Havi\’s accusations have not been disclosed in detail, the case is likely to attract public and legal attention given the position of the judges involved. The judges however were accused of gross misconduct and incompetence among others. The JSC believes in equality before the law and assures all Kenyans that it shall always act independently without fear, Favour and prejudice.  The JSC Vice Chairperson said in a statement. If the JSC finds the petitions to be valid, President William Ruto will have to be recommended to suspend the judges and appoint a tribunal to inquire into the matter and report on the facts then make binding recommendations.

CS Justin Muturi\’s Son: DPP Clarifies Allegations And Legal Proceedings

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has revealed clarifications on reports of the four individuals linked to anti-Finance Bill protests which took place in June 2024. Initially, there was a fake letter that circulated around social media mention four individuals accused of different crimes ranging from conspiracy to committing a felony which is contrary to section 393 of the Penal Code and offenses related to money laundering and other financial crimes. The letter was also banded with fake signature of the DPP Vincent Monda which further claimed that sufficient evidence had been gathered to charge the four individuals. Among the four individuals named included the son of Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi known as Leslie Muturi. The fake letter went viral across social media on Tuesday January 14th. On Thursday 16th January 2024, the ODPP released a statement dismissing the claims and flagging the letter as a fake letter. Previously, CS Muturi had detailed how his son was abducted in June 2024 following the Gen-Z protests. The CS reported his son was allegedly picked by armed hooded gangsters while they were travelling along Denis Pritt Road turning into Olengruone Avenue while in the company of Mwenje an advocate of the High Court Kenya.

Kenya Set To Implement AI Regulations Under New Strategic Plan

The government announces plan to regulate the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Kenya amid increasing use. This will be in accordance with the Kenya National AI Strategy (Draft) for 2025-2030 which aims at harnessing Al\’s potential to drive the country\’s economic growth. The plan will also seek to position Kenya as African leader in ascending AI to achieve national goals. This strategy envisages Kenya: being at the forefront of quality AI research and development and creating innovative and ethical solutions that address the needs of our local but diverse communities.  The statement said. Leveraging local talent, datasets, and creativity to transform priority sectors and create inclusive economic growth. The statement added. Part of the strategy will involve developing a national framework that would regulate the technology\’s best uses as well as investing in AI infrastructure by implementing a national broadband program that will consist of high-speed internet and 5G networks. The infrastructure will be powered by green energy sources such as solar wind and geothermal to reduce environmental impact. Another theme will include launching public awareness campaign on AI rights, disinformation and misinformation to curb its misuse. The draft strategy comes as the government is battling to tame the youths who resort to generating AI images to express their dissatisfaction.
