Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja Plans to Combat Water Shortage in Nairobi

The capital residents are set to receive an additional 140 million litres of water through a new development project called the Northern Water Collection Tunnel spearheaded by Governor Johnson Sakaja in a bid to combat water shortage in the city. The governor has recently confirmed that the project was on its final leg of development and that engineers are currently conducting final quality and content tests on the water before its full release into Nairobi’s distribution network. “The time to talk is over. Expect clean water, and for those who have been getting water once a week, you will now see more. This project is crucial, and we’re planning ahead to meet the demands of our growing population.” According to Sakaja, the urgency of more water supply in the capital city would alleviate the water shortage that many residents across Nairobi face. The Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company Managing Director Engineer Nahashon Muguna, who was also present at the meeting confirmed that some parts of Nairobi had already started benefitting from the new tunnel. Sakaja furthermore thanked all stakeholders involved in bringing the project to fruition, including the National Government as well as both the Kiambu and Murang’a County Governments. “We are grateful for President Ruto’s commitment to this project, and for the support of neighboring counties. We will continue to work together as we look toward phase two, which will further address Nairobi’s water needs.’’ This project will not only bring relief to millions of Nairobi residents who experience water shortage but also trigger infrastructural development projects in Nairobi.

KRA Responds To The Allegations That Their staff allegedly disrespected an Egyptian National at JKIA

The Kenya Revenue Authority Chairman Antony Mwaura has recently clarified on the incident that happened on friday night at JKIA between an Egyptian National and the KRA staff. According to the chairman the lady who is alleged to have been disrespected came with an Egyptian Airline and she was expected to pay a certain amount of money but wanted to bribe the staff but they became adamant although she later paid.  The chairman also stated that there was no evidence that the lady was disrespected and maintained that it was the other way round. He further noted that passengers at the airport are currently taking a little bit of time to collect their  languages. Talking about the belt and scanners used in the airport, the chairman stated that they will be improved in the next three months. The Egyptian national on Friday, November 8, narrated her experience at the Jomo Kenya International Airport after staff from the Kenya Revenue Authority allegedly disrespected her. “I read this piece that Efosa Ojomo wrote about his experience at the Nairobi airport when he wrote it.All I kept thinking at the time was thank God my country, Egypt, stopped behaving like that. Tonight, I landed at the airport in Nairobi only to experience what Efosa went through multiplied.” According to her statement, she had 15 books, 20 t-shirts, and some MIT caps, for which she was first asked to pay Ksh 155, 640.The customs officers at the airport then lowered the amount to Kshs 123,215 and later to Kshs 103, 760. Her concern, however, was the fact that the customs officers lacked a proper way of quantifying the value of her items. “All the while nobody would explain to me how they were reaching these calculations. It is worth noting that these items did not have price tags, so they were assigning whatever value they wanted. Over and above, they were disrespectful. They treated my colleague and me with disrespect, calling us idiots and yelling at us. They confiscated my colleague’s passport and would not return it until we agreed to pay.”
