Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza’s impeachment has been revoked with 120 days extention.
The now to be again Meru Governor was impeached on August 21st under 3 grounds which included gross misconduct, abuse of office and gross violation of the constitution.
However, she won the court battle on 18th December in ruling stated by Justice Bahati Mwamuye.

With the new ruling, Kawira is set to continue serving therefore barring her impeachment.
The judge said that the decision to uphold orders issued by the High Court in Meru allowed Kawira to continue with her gubernatorial duties before the full and final hearing set for a later date.
I shall in this ruling confirm and extend the interim (conservatory) orders for a period of 120 days from the date hereof and in that time, the petitioner shall continue to serve as the governor of Meru County with a provision that a judgement in this matter may be rendered before the lapse of those 120 days on the date hereof.
The Judge stated in his ruling.
With the ruling, the application by the Senate to lift the orders that would lead to her effectively dismissal from the office were rejected.
