Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United Drop 6 Points in 2 Games as Arsenal and Forest Thrive at Set Pieces

Amorim

Ruben Amorim’s honeymoon at Manchester United seems to be over after the Portuguese manager’s second Premier League loss in one week.

After Arsenal’s painful 2-0 defeat at the Emirates that was dominated by the Gunner’s corners, which ended up giving them two goals, it was no different in their game against Nottingham Forest.

The Saturday, December 8, night football match at Old Trafford had not even gone for a few minutes before Forest took the lead through a corner scored by Nikola Milenković.

Despite getting an equaliser nearly 15 minutes later through striker Rasmus Højlund, it went from bad to worse as two quick goals early in the second half saw United forced to fight for a draw.

United fall again

Despite scoring a second goal through Bruno Fernandes 30 minutes before time, the comeback didn’t work as United failed to score another goal, with their substitutes proving ineffective.

This leaves United in 13th place in the table, with a mountain to climb if they intend to play in Europe next season.

Before the Arsenal game, Amorim had warned that a storm was coming and as it seems, it’s already here.

United’s next Premier League game is against Manchester City away at Etihad after a Europen tie on Thursday at FC Viktoria Plzeň.

The ties going into the festive period don’t seem as easy as United would have liked, and they’ll have to get a good team first to try and get results even before focusing on their ‘average’ squad.

Amorim mentioned that United is a massive club but not a massive team. Well, after those two losses, it seems his words are not in any way exaggerated.
