Doctor’s strike Cancelled After Making a Deal With The Government

The doctor’s strike that was scheduled to start on December 22, 2024, has been cancelled after the government signed a deal with doctors. Deputy President Kithure Kindiki oversaw the signing of an agreement between doctors and the Ministry of Health that resulted in the strike being called off. According to the deal, intern doctors will receive Ksh 206,000 per month as salaries. KMPDU Secretary General Doctor Davji Atellah revealed that during the meeting, it was also agreed that the basic salary arrears would be paid. “In today’s agreement, the intern doctors can actually check their pay slips to see the confirmations that they will be getting their full salaries,” Devji confirmed. Previously, while giving notice for the strike, Devji expressed frustration that the doctors faced, blaming the government for neglecting the initial 2017 collective bargaining agreement. Kindiki further praised the doctors for taking a selfless move and cancelling the strike, terming it as an important move, especially for Kenyans who rely on them for medical services. “We welcome the selfless decision of the doctors to call off the intended industrial action and their willingness to continue engagement with the National and County Governments in the spirit of collaboration, consensus building, and good faith,” the DP said.

Kalonzo Welcome Gachagua to Join Them in New Coalition

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has finally addressed the speculations of a possible coalition with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua ahead of the 2027 general elections. Speaking after attending a burial ceremony in Embu Kalonzo, DAP Kenya’s Eugene Wamalwa and former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu, stated that Gachagua was welcome to join the opposition leaders. We must have a new coalition,” said Kalonzo. Wamalwa also echoed Kalonzo’s sentiments and expressed his approval of a coalition with Gachagua, urging Kenyans to support the movement. “We heard that the former DP said that he was ready to join hands with Kalonzo and Wamalwa, do you agree that Gachagua should join us?” Wamalwa. Nurse Judy criticizes Alma Mutheu for publicly embarrassing her boyfriend Gift

Social media influencer Nurse Judy has recently criticized Alma Mutheu for publicly embarrassing her boyfriend, Gift, despite previously presenting their relationship as ideal through a number of social media posts. She decided to share her thoughts after a follower on Instagram asked her opinion about Alma and Gift’s dynamic situation. Judy began by acknowledging that everyone is entitled to their own perspectives and values.  According to her, what may be unacceptable to one person could be perfectly fine for another. “Like I’ve always said, I respect everyone’s beliefs and how they choose to view life. It’s okay to have different points of view because we are all different,” Judy noted. She also added that while some may prefer wealthy partners, there’s no harm in supporting a hardworking partner who has potential. “If you see potential in him and truly love him, support and encourage him instead of making him look useless to the world just because he’s still at the stage of cost-sharing. After all, you knew this when you started dating him.”  Judy went on to reference her personal journey with her partner, explaining how they overcame financial struggles together. Her intention, she said, is always to inspire and motivate others in similar situations. She further expressed confusion as to why Alma would humiliate Gift after showcasing their relationship as “couple goals” for so long. “There’s nothing wrong with feeling tired in a relationship. If she’s done, she’s done, and that’s okay. But why demean him in public after all those posed pictures of perfection?” Judy questioned. Judy continued to  acknowledge that outsiders can never fully understand the dynamics of someone else’s relationship.  She also admitted she hadn’t watched the full interview but stressed that only the couple truly knows the details of their relationship. “Relationship matters are complex, and that’s why I always choose to remain neutral. I won’t automatically side with the woman just because she’s a woman. This era tends to encourage that, but I don’t subscribe to it,” she added.

ORPP dismisses claims that it has registered a political party founded By Gachagua

The Office of the Registrar of Political Parties has dismissed claims that it had registered a political party founded by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Through a statement, the ORPP flagged down a notice making rounds on the internet marking it as fake and juxtaposed the fake notices alongside their earlier notice that was shared via MyGov, a weekly newspaper published by the Government, on Tuesday. The fake notice noted that the Registrar of Political Parties had registered the Democratic People’s Party (DPP) with Rigathi Gachagua, Cleophas Malala, and Gathoni Wamuchomba listed as founding members. According to the Registrar of Political Parties through Ann Nderitu, her office received three parties none of which had Gachagua as a founder member.  The three parties, the Forum for Economic Development Agenda (FEDA), Kenya United Generation Party (KUG) and the Future Party (TFP) were in the process of registration, the registrar communicated. “In line with Section 5 (2) (a) of the Political Parties Act, 2011 the Registrar of Political Parties is in the process of provisionally registering the proposed political parties,” read the ORPP’s statement. This comes barely a day after the former deputy president hinted at joining forces with Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka in a quest for the presidency in the 2027 General Election.

Everyone must have a badge, and you check it online, and it brings up your photo. You know, yes, this is a certified staff member of the Nairobi County government and they have come to look at this and that.” This comes as the problem of harassment and extortion by county officials, particularly within the Central Business District (CBD), has been persistent in the capital. Following this, Some business owners alleged that county officials continued to intimidate and extort them, threatening to close their establishments without proper cause. In April 2024, the county government deployed compliance and enforcement teams across all 17 sub-counties to ensure businesses obtain the necessary permits and pay the required fees. Each officer was provided with a legitimate staff ID card featuring a QR code for verification. This initiative aimed to meet the county’s revenue target of Ksh20 billion for the financial year.
