Archbishop Ole Sapit voices concerns on reconstitution of IEBC

The Anglican Church of Kenya Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit has joined the opposition in voicing concerns about the reconstitution of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission which has dragged on for over two years. Ole Sapit warned that the country risks compromising the upcoming General Election if the issue is not quickly resolved. “We will need an IEBC that is completely prepared to handle the elections in good time for procurement purposes and make sure that we run an election by a team that has been trained well enough and in good time to be able to manage that process,” Archbishop Ole Sapit. The archbishop moreover noted that many Kenyans, especially new voters, need to be registered to exercise their constitutional right to vote in the 2027 polls.  “IEBC needs time to clean up the register. They need time to ensure unregistered Kenyans especially among the youth are registered.’’ According to him, the current state of affairs at IEBC amounts to a violation of voters’ rights and should be attended to urgently. “Having an absence of IEBC is a violation of the rights of Kenyans. Let us put the best interest of the country before our own and when we do that then Kenya will be a good place for all of us,” he noted. On the other hand, DP Kithure Kindiki has defended the government noting that the lack of a functional IEBC arose from a court injunction that halted the reconstitution of the Commission. The DP urged parties involved in the case over the reconstitution of the IEBC to reach an out-of-court settlement to facilitate the reconstitution of the electoral body. “I have seen some people blaming the government. This is a country governed by law. When there is an injunction, the government is not able to do anything,” the DP.

Gachagua Criticises government’s delay in reconstituting IEBC

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has questioned the government’s delay in reconstituting an electoral body as he sent a request to President William Ruto. “And on matters of IEBC, an election is as credible as the process. The electoral commission must be in place three years before the election, now we have two and a half years remaining. There is no IEBC and people can read mischief,” Gachagua alleged. According to the former DP, the country is behind schedule since a commission should have been constituted three years before the next general election. He therefore asked the President to work on constituting the IEBC with urgency, with barely three years until the next general election. “We are thus calling on the reconstitution of IEBC urgently so that the process can be as credible as the expected outcome.” Gachagua also took the chance to thank his allies for speaking up against the Kenya Kwanza government as he urged the church to keep calling out malpractice in the government. His comments came barely 24 hours after Kenyans went online in an interesting campaign to apply pressure on the government to set up a functioning electoral body.

Akothee advises Sarah and Simon Kabu to keep their relationship off social media

Renowned Kenyan artist Akothee has recently weighed in on the drama surrounding the separation of power couple Sarah and Simon Kabu. Identifying  herself as the Certified Chief Officer Of Failed Marriages President Of Single Mothers, Akothee urged the couple to take a step back from social media, noting that not everyone has their best interest at heart. “I would like to take this opportunity to urge both couples to step away from social media and try to appear as the innocent ones. While we may seem like we care and push you to provide evidence of who did what, and where with who, remember this: people don’t want evidence to set you free. Instead, all the evidence you share with us “online in-laws” will be used to bring you down. If that’s not enough, we will burn you, and if even burning you isn’t enough, we will drag your children into it and take sides in your business.” She also urged people to be mindful about the welfare of the couple and their children and avoid mixing issues that do not concern them. “The problem here is the relationship between a husband and a wife where emotions, children, and property are involved. It’s not employee/employer issues. Don’t mix the two. Someone is emotionally damaged, be mindful.” She moreover continued to advise Sarah and Kabu telling them that whatever evidence they have should not be displayed on social media. “Whatever is happening now is not good for either of you, your family members, or especially your children. The people you are explaining yourselves to include some who have barely escaped the “bed of death” called marriage. Don’t scrutinize or try to damage each other’s reputation. All the evidence you are sharing now will one day come back to bite you.” According to Akothee the first thing that Simon Kabu should do is to shun cameras where he has been trying to address the matter, but only fueling rumor mills and speculation as he takes Sarah head-on. I insist: KABU, shut up. You are a man, a father, and an entrepreneur. Toka kwa kamera kwanza. This matter is too sensitive to be public right now. I have been in These shoes before, where my ex who broke our union convinced everyone I was the problem deep down he knew the truth.” Speaking from experience, she shared her painful experience where a woman replaced her in her matrimonial home, leaving her without a husband.     View this post on Instagram   A post shared by AKOTHEE KENYA (@akotheekenya) “I am not saying you are wrong, but wait, just wait Bro, I have been in those shoes, both of you. A woman replaced me in my matrimonial home. I was left husbandless with children, and yet, even she didn’t keep my man. She eventually dumped him. Whatever is in court, keep it there. Hawa watu wa social media sio watu good. Remember, you will still need to share the kids, the family, and the business.” She maintained that a divorce does not have to be messy, stressing that she stands with Sarah. “Divorce doesn’t have to be ugly. Kama Big G imeisha utamu, TEMAAA KWA HESHIMAA. #IIstandwithsarah Until proved guilty Certified Chief Officer Of Failed Marriages President Of Single Mothers.” The couple have been making headlines over the last few days with reports indicating that a divorce is in the offing.

Whether it’s through prayer, fasting, or any other capacity, something needs to change.“ Talking about their past friendship, Obinna noted that the two were once close collaborators and even built several projects together.  However, their relationship grew strained over time due to undisclosed issues. “I have been observing him for a while. There was a time when 2mbili was my personal person, and we built a lot of things together. I tried to guide him here and there, but eventually, I decided to step back and focus on other things.” Obinna moreover noted that their lives still intersect indirectly as he has employed 2mbili’s girlfriend, Jackie Ogaga. Recently, 2mbili was involved in a car accident while driving Stivo Simple Boy’s stylist to the singer’s event in Kisii. Another incident was during Eric Omondi’s brother Fred’s funeral, where 2mbili’s car troubles caused delays.  Obinna believes that  misfortunes point to a deeper issue that needs urgent attention. “There is an evil, demonic spirit that is surrounding you and it’s always constantly putting you in problems. You constantly have problems that are unnecessary… When we used to work together I sued to have a lot of problems.”

Kenyan Police in Haiti Threaten to Resign Over Delayed Payment

Kenyan Police in Haiti have threatened to resign should President William Ruto’s administration fail to solve their problems, including timely payment of their wages. It is alleged that the police officers have not received their wages for the past three months. However, the Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja on November 5, refuted the allegations, noting that the officers had already been paid their wages in full. The inspector also added that the situation in Haiti had immensely improved on the back of the government’s efforts to resolve most of the challenges facing the contingent His sentiments were backed by Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo who clarified that the United Nations was the organisation mandated with paying the officers and not Kenya. “The Kenyan team is part of the United Nations multi-support team in Haiti and its term of engagement is well defined on who is paying for that support, and it is the United Nations,” Omollo said.  Insiders in Haiti termed Kanja and PS Omollo’s sentiments as misleading. According to the officers, most of them were grappling with financial problems as they were unable to support their families back in Kenya. Apart from calling  for better working conditions and timely payment, the officers’ demands have been met with extreme responses, including threats of disarmament. A section of Kenyan police in the Caribbean nation also lamented that their communication was being controlled to prevent any information about their suffering from leaking back to Kenya. This comes after Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi revealed that Kenya spent ksh2 billion to fund the Haiti mission. The disbursement was made in September this year according to the report.
