Renowned Digital content creator Elodie Zone is back on social media after a short break and she is already beefing with a select group of netizens. Taking to her Instagram stories, Elodie argued it was time to let things go as she had already sort out her life, financially, emotionally and also when it came to family. The content creator noted all those still carrying such stories were merely trying to fish for relevance using her name.  “Wanna make it clear that life is good, and things are at peace as we close the year. The January struggles have been sorted and cleared with my fam, friends, and work opportunities. You can stop creating spam accounts to use news from 11 months ago to stay relevant,” the social media personality wrote.  She continued to add that she didn’t understand why her name was being dragged as she was no longer big on the limelight as she used to be before. She further Highlighted  that she was more concerned with chasing the bag during this juncture of her life as opposed to seeking relevance or fame online.  “I don’t even do this influencer stuff anymore. Been at it for over a decade now. I just enjoy sharing workout stuff once in a while,” Elodie wrote. Earlier this year, the content creator revealed she had started off 2024 on such a terrible note.   “I’m starting 2024 off with a pretty unique situation. and so let’s vlog it. My boyfriend broke up with me because I didn’t want to sleep with him… the apartment building that I’m living in is throwing me out, because I have a dog, and there is now a no pets rule.” Elodie shared. she also noted that her mental health was also struggling because of a strain between her and her family and friends “My family members stopped talking to me last year because I didn’t go on a family trip and the reason,  I didn’t go on a family trip was because of previous verbal and mental-emotional abuse. Now I have been completely isolated. Mind you I am an only child,” she pointed out. Adding, “And I no longer have a friend group because my old one was full of people who drunk too much alcohol. And I wasn’t for it, so I have no friends. Did I forget to mention that I lost my job? So, I also don’t have a stream of income”

Chimano shares how Sauti Sol transitioned from earning modest amounts on their first European tour to making their first million shillings.

Vocalist Willis Chimano has recently shared the story of how Sauti Sol transitioned from earning modest amounts on their first European tour to making their first million shillings. During their early days the group  embarked on their debut European tour after signing with their first record label, which also produced their first two albums.  According to Chimano, the value of their record deal was about one million shillings in euros at the time. Their first European tour took them to Amsterdam, where they stayed for three months. Living on a tight budget, the four band members survived on €50  per week.  “We shopped at the cheapest stores and stretched what we had for the whole week,” Chimano recalled. He moreover disclosed that One of their earliest gigs was at an elderly care home, performing for residents, many of whom were in wheelchairs or using walkers.  “They paid us €100 to €150 per show (Sh14,000-Sh20,000). We accepted it because we were in hustle mode, knowing it was a stepping stone to something greater,” Chimano said.  At the time, the band had no major hits and was simply seen as an African band performing in Europe. Things changed later after they returned to Kenya from their 2009 European tour.  By 2013, Sauti Sol landed a life-changing opportunity when they joined Safaricom Twaweza Live, a seven-month campaign that included concerts across the country.  The initiative not only nurtured local talent but also allowed the band to earn their first millions. “When we signed up for Safaricom Live, our lives changed because of the money we received. That was the first time we saw a few million shillings,” Chimano shared.  For the first time, each band member began receiving a salary of Sh150,000, while Sauti Sol Entertainment, treated as the fifth member, also earned a share. The band  has since become one of Kenya’s most iconic musical groups, but Chimano’s reflection underscores their humble beginnings and the challenges they overcame to achieve success.

Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit directs Bungoma bishop to return Ruto’s Donation

The Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Kenya Jackson Ole Sapit has directed the Bungoma bishop who accepted President Ruto’s Ksh 5 million donation to return the money. According to Ole Sapit, the donation made by Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka on behalf of the Head of State was an attempt to shame the Anglican Church. The archbishop moreover termed the move as unfortunate adding that the Anglican church would not accept donations whose sources were unknown. “What happened in Bungoma was unfortunate because it was like a display of trying to see what the Anglican church will do following the recent decision by the Catholics,” the archbishop said.  Ole Sapit has urged Kenyans to shun the culture of celebrating corrupt politicians moreover calling on Kenyans to reject any donations by politicians and their appointees alleging that most of the money that was being donated by the political leaders was from stolen taxes. “I want to encourage all of us, as Kenyans, to reject contributions by politician leaders and their appointees knowing that most of the money given was from stolen taxes. We must stop celebrating whenever the president, governors, MPs, and other political leaders donate money whose source was not clear,” the archbishop noted. On Sunday, December 1 the head of state donated Ksh 5 million to Crispinus Anglican Church in Bungoma sparking debate about the continuous donations by politicians to churches. The money was handed to the church by Governor Lusaka who urged the church to accept the money saying there was nothing inappropriate about leaders supporting the work of the Church. “There is nothing wrong with leaders donating money for God’s work. Ruto

President Ruto Responds to Kenyans who have been criticising the government on the plans to modernise JKIA

President William Ruto has recently lashed out at Kenyans who have been criticising the government on the plans to modernise the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport through private-public partnerships, terming them as unpatriotic. Speaking during the opening of Devki Iron Ore Pelletisation Plant in Taita Taveta, Ruto insisted that the government will not disembark from the plans to modernise JKIA. According to him, those attacking the government, particularly on social media, lacked alternative ideas on how best to develop key infrastructure such as airports despite their criticisms.  He went on to accuse them of sabotaging investors who had shown interest in investing in Kenya. “Sometimes, when we have people who believe in Kenya, who want to invest in Kenya, such people, we sabotage them yet the people who sabotage our country, we glorify them as if they were anything. Recently, I saw other people glorify those who stopped the construction of the airport as heroes, what heroes? The airport is in a tent. Other countries are building their airports yet ours is not built. What gain do you get when you stop the building of an airport in your country and you lack alternative ideas and you have no clue how it will be built.’’ He moreover defended the government’s plans to bring in the Indian conglomerate of companies Adani International, insisting that the plans were in the best interest of the country. adding that the government is still committed to its plans to modernise the JKIA despite the exit of Adani from the project. “Let me assure you we are going to build a new airport in Kenya. We may have stopped Adani from doing it. I was confident he was going to build our airport and he was going to do a good job but because of the law barring us from engaging with people who have cases, we stopped it but that does not mean we are not going to build the airport. We are going to get a new framework, we are going to work with people who believe in this country to build a new airport for us because that is what the future looks like,” he stated.

Wajackoyah

George Wajackoyah will be on the presidential Ballot again in the next General Elections

Former presidential aspirant George Wajackoyah has officially announced his bid for the top seat in the upcoming 2027 General Election. Speaking during an interview at K24, Wajackoyah noted that his decision had been motivated by how President William Ruto treated fellow aspirants upon winning in 2022. “I came here to officially announce that I am on the ballot in 2027 and I will not be stopped. I am running again because I am bitter. Ruto could have sat with us at the beginning and asked us if there was any way we could help. He should have asked our colleagues instead of us having to kneel to beg for a job and start singing. I refused and I am refusing today.” In the last general election Wajackoyah alongside running-mate Justina Wangui only managed to scoop four per cent of the votes despite a rigorous campaign that garnered him a huge following both online and offline.  Wajackoya has disclosed that he has begun speaking to churches and people on the ground to gather insight on what he did wrong during his previous unsuccessful bid and how he could improve this time round. “Anglican Bishops are now calling for me while previously they saw me as a crazy person. The media played a big role in pushing the narrative of ‘mtu wa bangi. People did not understand that I was not talking about smoking bhang but domestic hemp products for cosmetic purposes as well as for medicinal purposes to treat diseases like cancer and Covid.” In his 2022 manifesto, Wajackoya mostly  pushed for the legalisation of bhang, a decision that he believed would help alleviate the debt crisis in the country.
