Suspect in Wells Fargo’s manager Willis Ayieko’s murder dies in Kisumu

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has recovered a pistol belonging to the late Wells Fargo Human Resource Manager, Willis Ayieko. Together with the police in Siaya, the security agency managed to trail two suspects who were reportedly in possession of the firearm. The recovery was confirmed after a tip-off from members of the public who reported two suspicious individuals, one male and one female, spotted with a gun in a car at Wagai Trading Centre. Responding to the tip, officers from Wagai Police Station acted swiftly. Upon trying to flag down the suspect’s vehicle, the male driver defied the orders by the police and instead opened fire while speeding off towards Luanda. Unfortunately, the driver managed to escape, leaving behind his female accomplice, who was found seriously injured and unconscious.   The police however recovered a pistol loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition, which was positively identified as the firearm robbed from Ayieko before his heinous killing. The woman was rushed to the nearby hospital in Yala but she succumbed to her injuries hours later.  Detectives are seriously examining all evidence, and forensic teams are conducting thorough analyses to uncover new leads. Willis Ayieko went missing on October 19, while traveling up country to attend a burial in Gem, Siaya County and after almost five days of frantically searching he was found dead. His body was found in a morgue.

Gachagua

Blow To Gachagua As Court Of Appeal DeclinesTo Grant Order To Stop The High Court Proceeding Pending Appeal Related To His Impeachment

Impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has suffered another blow after the Court of Appeal declined to issue orders to stop the three-judge bench constituted by Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu to determine his fate. The ruling came after Gachagua had sought the intervention of the court to stop the three-judge bench consisting of justices Eric Ogolla, Anthony Mrima, and Fridah Mugambi, over what his lawyers termed was unlawful empanelment.  In his petition, Gachagua through his lawyers argued that the constitution of the bench was unlawful since Chief Justice Martha Koome did not have an input in it and wanted the Court of Appeal to issue orders stopping the three judge bench from proceeding with the case. Gachagua’s lawyer John Njomo stated that the rulings were inaccurate, erroneous and were a misinterpretation of the Constitution. He further argued that the Constitution only accords the Chief Justice the powers to empanel a bench and not any other judicial officer. “The applicant contends that the stated ruling is based on not only a misinterpretation of Article 165 (4) of the Constitution but also a violation of Articles 25, 27, 47, 48, 50 (1) and 260 as the Constitution accords the power to empanel and assign judges to only the Chief Justice of Kenya…therefore the DCJ has no power to assign and empanel Judge.’’ The 3-judge bench had refused to recuse themselves and they are expected to deliver a ruling on whether Deputy President Nominee Kithure Kindiki swearing in ceremony can proceed. Justices George Odunga, Patrick Kiage and Agrey Muchelule directed that the case be heard on November 6, this year.

James Oswago Former IEBC CEO sentence To A 4 Years Imprisonment

James Oswago, the former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission chief executive, was dealt a blow after the High Court upheld his conviction and four-year sentence.   This comes after he was found guilty of irregular awarding of a Ksh1.3 billion tender for the supply of voter materials for the 2013 General Elections. In 2022, James Oswago was found guilty alongside former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Deputy Commission Secretary in charge of Support Services Wilson Kiprotich Shollei. magistrate Felix Kombo convicted the two on two counts of willful failure to comply with procurement laws. Oswago and Shollei  however went on to file separate appeals at the High Court to challenge their conviction.  They argued that the evidence presented against them was insufficient. Making the ruling, Justice Nixon Sifuna  maintained that the prosecution had provided enough grounds to convict the duo. “As for the sentences, they were not harsh, not too lenient nor illegal. I therefore find no basis or justification for disturbing the sentences as imposed.’’ Justice Sifuna further added that the two were supposed to have maintained a high-level of accountability particularly because of how highly-charged elections in Kenya can be. Oswago and Shollei will now be subjected to a fine of KSh 7.5 million or a four-year jail term each.

Kamene Goro Addresses The Mean Girl Claims

Media personality Kamene Goro has recently responded to accusations from 3 of her former colleagues painting her as a two sided ‘mean girl’ who feigns support towards upcoming girls in the field only to do the complete opposite of everything she claims.   Kamene sharing on her Instagram account started by noting what she has learnt over the years stating that  the less she knows according to her the better. “One thing I’ve come to learn over the years is that the less that is out there, the better. This can go across the board with a whole lot of things but I want to bring it down to your personal life as well as where you are at in life. The less people know, the better also at the same time you give people less ammunition to use against you… I’ve said this time and time again not everything requires your response, okay?” She further went on to share an analogy of a boxing match pointing out without an opponent nothing would transpire. “There is no boxing match if there is only one person is in the ring. Sometimes, learn to be the person who is not in the ring because then you can avoid that bad ordeal,” Kamene said in part adding, “you find someone coming to you talking bad, you don’t have to engage them. At the same time, there is a saying that says ‘don’t ever argue with a fool because they’ll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.” The radio presenter concluded by advising young girls out there by encouraging then to respect themselves enough.  “It’ll help you not to look like your troubles. No matter what, never ever will I walk the world looking like my struggles. I walk looking like nimekosana na mtu? Nijikute. At the heart of it all baby girl, respect yourself enough to put yourself on a pedestal…. jiheshimu sometimes, to not be a part of some things or party to some things. But at the same time, as a baby girl who is arguing with a fool? And you can take that to the bank!” Her response comes a few days after her former colleagues went on a TikTok live where they shared their terrible experiences working around the radio host. One of them went as far as accusing Kamene of sabotaging King Kalala’s career instead of mentoring her as directed. “Hii story ya sijui you don’t know what happened to Kalala, this woman used to get into her head. You know the situation Kalala is ni. You can’t be ethe person umeambiwa you mentor huyu msee but instead you are taking advantage of this person because you know their situation. The hurtful things this lady used to tell this girl behind closed doors… This shawty was scared coz ameambiwa huyu ndio atakumentor kwa hii place. But now things get out of hand and you are like I can’t do this anymore. That is what happened.”

Employment And Labour Court Declares The Nationwide Lecturers’ Strike Illegal

The Employment and Labour Court has declared the nationwide lecturers’ strike illegal, directing the government and the University Academic Staff Union to initiate negotiations and reach an amicable solution. This ruling comes a day after UASU workers resumed strike on October 28 after being ignored by the government. The Union and its members had issued a fresh 7-day notice to the government vowing to down their tools on October 29 should their demands remain unmet. The notice by UASU was signed by the national secretary general of the Union, Constantine Wasonga, and was endorsed by 38 tertiary institutions among them 35 public universities and 3 colleges across the country.  The lecturers faulted the government for failing to implement their agreed CBA. On September 13th this year, UASU met with Labour Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua, where parties reached an agreement for salary increments for all university workers. The parties had agreed on a pay increase of between 7 per cent and 10 per cent for university staff, with those in grades 13A–15A receiving a 7 per cent increase and those in grades 10A–12A receiving a 10 per cent increase. UASU has disclosed that they have been  engaging the government to sign a return to work formula with the last attempt to reach an agreement bearing no fruits in a meeting held on September 26. The Court has however granted UASU 14 days to file a response on the matter and the case will be mentioned on November 28.

Mwafreeka Discloses That He Is an atheist

Musician Mwafreeka has recently disclosed that he has been an atheist since the year 2004 and added that the music he listens to influenced his belief system. “I am an atheist, I became an atheist in the year 2004, it is the music that I listen to would challenge that but later with more access to the internet when I would understand topic that I could not understand in school i ended up getting that side more.”  According to him,the theory of evolution which suggests that human beings evolved from monkeys, didn’t make much sense to him.   He went on to question the connection between the monkey family and regular humans. “Things like, the way you were taught about evolution in school I was like a joke it was by the way now when you sit down and someone explain this to you look at all animals and all animals have relatives look at this looks like this and then final thing these things are relatives they did not evolve from, because people are always like if we evolved from monkeys why are there still monkeys now we and monkeys are cousins but our parents disappeared and that’s how i found myself there.” According to American Atheists, many people define “god” as a unifying force among all people, or they may express uncertainty about their beliefs. If you don’t actively believe in any gods, you are considered an atheist. The Hip Hop artist is also the host of popular IKO NINI podcast.
