Former mungiki leader Maina Njenga has recently declared his support for President William Ruto, urging the residents of the Mt. Kenya region to unite behind the government.
Talking during a prayer meeting held at Kabiruini Showground in Nyeri on New Year’s eve, Njenga emphasised the need for collaboration between the youth and government leaders to foster grassroots development.
He went on to dismiss rumors of a political rift in the region following the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

According to him, the region remains united with the government and that only one individual has defected from the Kenya Kwanza administration.
Njenga further introduced what he termed the Kabiruini Declaration, which commits young people in the region to work alongside the current government.
He did not forget to criticize Gachagua for not adequately addressing issues affecting key sectors such as coffee and tea, which are crucial to the local economy.
“You recently saw the President visit Uhuru in Gatundu. Several cabinet secretaries were named afterwards, and we believe this new unity will steer the region forward. With CS Mutahi Kagwe at the helm, we are confident the coffee and tea sectors will be revived.”
