Uhuru encourages Gen Z to Continue Fighting for Their Rights

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has recently encouraged Gen Z to continue fighting for their rights, barely two months after a symbolic ‘handshake’ with President William Ruto. Speaking during the burial of his cousin, veteran rally driver Kibathi Muigai on Friday, Uhuru expressed his thoughts over the rising influence of Kenyan youth on political discourse. “The problem of people nowadays is people are afraid. Gen Zs are the story of the future. Fight for your rights. Fight to ensure you are getting what is rightfully yours.Don\’t stand and watch as your wealth is taken from you. Everything is worth fighting for. If you do not fight for it, don\’t cry if it is taken away.” He moreover urged his daughter Ngina Kenyatta to join the fight, arguing it was time for him and his peers to rest and hand over the fight. His comment comes as a surprise to many since he has always shied away from speaking on politics since he left office in 2022. The call for youths to continue the fight came amid a spate of abductions targeting young people who have turned against the government online. Notably, Uhuru’s message for the youth comes a month after he meets with Ruto at his Ichaweri home on December 9.  The meeting was interpreted as Ruto making inroads into Mt Kenya following the ouster of Rigathi Gachagua.

This he said while addressing the press on Thursday January 16th, 2025. This is a person who does not love Raila, he has never sacrificed anything for him, even going to Ethiopia is just a gimmick, so Raila should know better.  The lawmaker added. Jeremiah Kioni Responds to Gachagua Months After Calling for Alliance With Uhuru

Jeremiah Kioni, Jubilee Party Secretary General has finally sent a message to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua months after calls for unity with the former president. According to Kioni, the former ruling party\’s focus had been intact since 2017 and that Gachagua\’s change of stance would not deter the party\’s plan. \”We are happy that he is the one shooting best at his former boss but about where we want to go, we already knew where we were going even before 2017 and 2022. He has to be careful not to come and misdirect people and create false hopes. Getting Ruto out of power takes a lot more than making statements in the churches,\” Kioni stated. He went on to hail Gachagua for his change in stance and for being on the frontline in criticising and checking the Kenya Kwanza Government which he was part of and Jubilee was against. \”Our fight with Gachagua was against the difficulties Kenyans were going through. We were telling Rigathi Gachagua that he was bringing us a terrible product to the mountain. He never heard us, he insulted us.But now, we are happy that he is the one shooting best at his former boss.” Last year, Gachagua, who was still the DP, expressed willingness to work with Uhuru for the sake of Mt Kenya unity. The former DP reiterated that the election period was over and that they should work together to benefit Kenyans. \”Uhuru Kenyatta is our son, he should come so that we unite. Is that okay? Do you have a problem with him? The election period is over. We should unite as one region and love each other. If we fail to unite, we shall find ourselves in difficult situations,\” the former DP noted then.

Senator Orwoba Faces Blow As High Court Affirms 3-Month Suspension

Nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba has faced a huge blow after High Court upheld her decision to be suspended. The decision to suspend Orwoba was made by the Senate in September last year to suspend her from participating in Parliamentary activities for three months for gross misconduct. She had also alleged that there was discrimination in parliament by posting various messages on the Senate Business WhatsApp group a report made by the powers and privileges committee. The ruling was made by Justice Mugambi who agreed with the decision made by the Senate noting that the Nominated Senator had been given a chance to appear before the Senate Committee to defend herself but failed to do so. Senator Gloria Orwoba was provided with opportunity to appear and state her case, presumably even raising all manner of preliminary issues before the Senate powers and privileges committee but she instead opted not to participate and walked out on the committee. Justice Lawrence Mugambi said. The judge said he did not find an infringement of the right to fair administrative action or the right to fair hearing in the circumstances of the case and therefore dismissed the petition filed by Orwoba with costs to the respondents. With the ruling, Senator Orwoba will loss certain personal benefits until May this year when she will be required to appear before the house and apologise before being readmitted.

MP Sudi Questions CS Justin Muturi After The Abductions Expose

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has hit out at Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi after an expose that unearthed the government official behind abductions in the country. In a recent statement, Sudi lashed out at CS Muturi, accusing him of clinging to political relevance and questioning the timing of his decision to expose the facts surrounding enforced disappearances in Kenya. “This desperate move, made now that your political career has waned, is a clear blackmail attempt. The timing is highly suspicious, revealing a cowardly man clutching at straws for political expediency,” he noted. MP Sudi moreover questioned the motive behind the abduction of Muturi’s son at the height of the June-August Gen Z-led protests claiming that they were ‘agemates’. “In regards to your son’s woes, who is my age mate, kwani alishikwa bure??” Sudi quipped. Sudi’s statement comes after the CS claimed that the National Intelligence Service (NIS), under the leadership of Director General Noordin Haji, was behind the abductions of Kenyans. Muturi  laid these facts bare while recording a statement at the Kilimani Police Station on Tuesday, January 14. The CS had earlier hit out at the government over his son’s abduction stating that minimum effort was made in regards to the discovery of his son’s whereabouts. In his explosive 3-page statement, Muturi revealed that it took a personal meeting with President William Ruto to finally ascertain the whereabouts of his son, Leslie Muturi.  This followed a strenuous operation led by Muturi, which included reaching out to former Inspector General Japhet Koome, former Interior CS Kithure Kindiki, Interior PS Raymond Omollo, and Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) director Kiprotich Mohamed, all of which proved futile. According to the CS, he openly speculated to Ruto that the NIS was holding his son, though the President was initially apprehensive. Muturi disclosed that Ruto confronted Noordin Haji on whether the NIS was involved in Leslie’s abduction.

CS Justin Muturi Goes To Kilimani Police Station to Record A Statement Over Son’s Abduction

Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi on Tuesday, January 14, was driven to Kilimani Police Station to record a statement over the abduction of his son at the height of the anti-government protests in June. In the footage shared online, the CS seen arriving at the station, met the Kilimani OCS among other police bosses who later engaged in a conversation that the media was shut out of. This comes days after the CS criticised the government about the increased abductions in the wake of the protests.   His comments came as a huge surprise as it was perceived as going against the grain. This has resulted in speculation mounting over his future in President William Ruto’s government. Addressing the media on January 12, Muturi highlighted that little was done to secure his son’s release despite his standing at the time. He served as an Attorney General and a member of the National Security Council.  Hours later, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations responded, inviting him to record a statement noting that his son’s case was already on record at DCI Kilimani. “The alleged case of abduction involving CS Justin Muturi’s son is active before DCI Kilimani. We wish to invite CS Muturi and any other person with information on the incident to record a statement with DCI Kilimani,” they noted. Muturi’s comments were met with a fierce rebuttal from leaders among then being Aldai MP Marianne Kitany went as far as demanding for his resignation adding that she would file a censure motion in Parliament if he failed to step down.

MP Marianne Kitany: “CS Justin Muturi should resign”

Aldai Member of Parliament Marianne Kitany has recently threatened to file a censure motion against Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi over remarks in which he criticised the government and called out the State regarding the spate of abductions in the country. MP Kitany also called for Muturi’s resignation, faulting him for speaking out against a government of which he is a part. “CS Justin Muturi should resign. He cannot critique a government of which he is a part; it simply isn’t possible. If he does not resign, I will sponsor a censure motion against him in parliament,” Kitany stated. Kitany went on to criticize Muturi for addressing the issue of abductions through the media, claiming that ordinary wananchi were not in a position to assist him. “Public Service CS Justin Muturi is a member of the Cabinet, where he can address any concerns he has. When he chooses to bring up the issue of abductions through the media, what does he expect ordinary Kenyans to do?” Kitany quipped. Her statement comes after Muturi recently lashed out at the government demanding closure, noting that he was appalled by his son’s abduction in June at the height of the anti-government protests. According to the CS, he felt compelled to reiterate the sentiments he expressed during a funeral service in Embu last week after his previous calls to security organs were ignored

Bishop Anthony Muheria questions politicians who settle political scores at funeral ceremonies

Nyeri Catholic Archbishop Anthony Muheria has recently sent a stern warning to all the politicians who are in the habit of settling political scores at funeral ceremonies. The Bishop called out President Ruto’s allies for their increasing notoriety of bringing politics into funerals. According to the bishop, the ruling elite lacks the  fundamental respect for sacred activities like burial ceremonies and asked the leaders to look deep within themselves for decency. “Even in funerals, it seems that we are not even given respect to our parents and ancestors. We’ve lost all kinds of decorum and respect. Must we dance on the coffins of our loved ones to be popular?” he posed, criticizing the political class. Bishop Muheria went on to weigh on the issue of abductions which has rocked the country in recent weeks urging for tolerance among those in power. “It’s enough. We can’t be commenting about abductions. It doesn’t matter who is guilty of whatever crime we say. That person has a soul. That person has a right. His life is worth more than those few remarks he makes,” he stated. Ruto’s political allies in turn responded to the cleric’s scathing criticism terming the utterances as an interference in state affairs cautioning him to focus on his core business, which is spiritual nourishment. “Don’t come and lecture us as if you are god. All of us are human, so let us respect each other,” Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi countered. Muheria was reacting to the recent heated exchange of words witnessed at the burial of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula’s mother in Western Kenya where the majority leader in the National Assembly, Kimani Ichung’wah, and Transzoia Governor George Natembeya exchanged words.
