Morara Kebaso Receives Praises From Jalang’o For His Efforts IN Exposing Corruption within The Government

Langata MP Jalang’o acknowledges the good work Morara Kebaso does. Morara has been exposing the unfinished government projects across the country. Langata MP Jalang’o is among the many who have continued to praise Activist Morara Kebaso for the good work he is doing. Acknowledging the good work Morara does, Jalong’o has noted that if the activist goes to Langata he will surely not find any unfinished project since all the projects in that area are completely done. ”When Morara comes to Langata I will not see a project that Jalang’o started and it’s not completed. Morara will find himself not very useful when he comes to look for projects in Langata because all our projects are completely done.”  He  further advised Kebaso that he should remember that politics is not everyone’s cup of tea, noting that people can love you online but they can’t love you everywhere. ”But I’m happy that he’s coming out to show whatever he’s doing. But for Morara he should learn that he’s not on social media anymore, he’s in politics. And politics is not everyone’s cup of tea. People can love you online but they can’t love you everywhere.’’ Morara had recently taken the internet by storm with his impressive impersonations of President William Ruto, something that made him to be arrested and detained and was later accused of cyber harassment.  He has however been able to gain support from many Kenya all over the country for the work he does in exposing Ruto’s government.

Gachagua

Blow To DP Gachagua Again As High Court Refuses To Halt The Hearing Of His Impeachment At The Senate

The court refuses to stop the tabling of Gachagua’s impeachment at the senate.  The hearing of the impeachment is set to start from 16th October to 17th October. The High Court has rejected Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s attempt to halt the Senate’s upcoming impeachment proceedings. Justice Chacha Mwita delivered the ruling dismissing Rigathi Gachagua’s petition that sought to restrain the Senate from acting on the National Assembly’s resolution passed on October 8.  This ruling allows the impeachment process in the Senate to continue. “Having considered the application and argument by parties, the constitution, and the precedent, the prayer for the grant of conservatory order is hereby declined.’’ According to the Justice, the Constitution has delegated the impeachment process to Parliament, and the court must show restraint in meddling with the process. Justice Mwita, however, ruled that the challenges raised in the petition can be considered after the Senate concludes its role. He further ruled that the court had the jurisdiction to hear the petition brought by Gachagua, despite some of the responders to the petition arguing that the court had no jurisdiction since the matter in question stemmed from a constitutional process.  The DP becomes the first DP to go through an impeachment process  and has been  impeached by the MPs since the implementation of the new constitution.

Morara Kebaso Receives Backlash After Selling Inject T-shirts at Ksh. 2.5k

Kenya Activist Morara Kebaso has faced critics for selling INJECT t-shirts for Ksh. 2500 per piece. INJECT is a political party which was officially registered on October 2nd, 2024. Morara revealed in statement today on his social media claiming the sweatshirts were available and any from any location could order. He said that the sweatshirts were stitched and branded locally and were made of pure cotton. The activist said that the sweatshirts would be their resource mobilization for the movement and its activities as all the money would be used to fund activities. Activities mentioned included public interest court cases, civic education, medical aid camps etc. Kenyans have reacted differently towards the progress. They commented on his social media as follows: Sio Leo: Thank you for making it easy for police and DCI to identify and arrest anti-government Kenyans. It’s not campaign time so I beseech all of you to stop wearing such paraphernalia to create an anti-government narrative. You will be arrested. Wesley Kibande: When the parents of those Gen Z’s ask Morara why he’s making money at their children’s blood. Kihato Eric: Selling hope to Kenyans is indeed a lucrative business. Babylonian: The enemy is poverty enyewe. Mr. Slim: What is this now, bwana, just tell Kenyans that you are after money. Just visit Raila Odinga and get what you are after, doesn’t matter where it comes from.

Senate

Senate Forced To Adjourn a Setting After Senators Failed To Show Up

A big blow as  many senators fail to attend  a morning setting at the  senate.  This raises questions since they are expected to start tabling Gachagu’s impeachment motion on  16th October. The Senate has recently been forced to adjourn a sitting due to a lack of quorum. Lawmakers were set to discuss a raft of issues but most senators were a no-show with hardly any legislator present at the chambers. “The Senate of Kenya morning session has been adjourned due to lack of quorum pursuant to the Senate Standing Order 40 subsection 2.”  According to the standing orders of the Senate, for the House to transact or do any business of the day there has to be a minimum of 15 senators present in the Chamber. This comes even as the Senate is set to hear the impeachment case against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on October 16 and October 17. The Senate is now the key determiner on whether Gachagua will remain in office after the National Assembly voted to kick him out last week.  The deputy president can, however, be saved by the courts. DP Gachagua is facing 11 accusations including; gross violation of the Constitution, insubordination, unlawful acquisition of wealth and threatening national unity through making divisive statements in public. Gachagua has however filed a case in court seeking orders to have the Senate blocked from debating his impeachment. The High Court is expected to rule on Tuesday at 2:30 PM on whether to suspend the impeachment trial .

There was zero absentee. “Honourable Senators, the result for the division is as follows; Ayes are 34, Nays 10 and abstention at zero so the ayes have it,” Senate Speaker Amason Kingi announced. Honourable Senators, the motion having been approved, the hearing proceedings on the proposed removal from office by the impeachment of honourable Dr Erick Kimutai, the Governor of Kericho County, hereby terminates and the senate now stands adjourned.” Mutai had argued  that the county assembly failed to achieve the two-thirds threshold required by Law, a matter that was taken into consideration by various Senators. The governor was accused of gross violation of constitutional and other laws including; misappropriation, misallocation, and illegal drawings of County revenue and County finances and misappropriation and/or abetting misappropriation of publicly raised funds. Mutai has now joined the list of county governors who have survived impeachment from the senate.

Ole Sapit

Bishop Ole Sapit Advises The Senate Ahead Of Gachagua’s Impeachment

Ole Sapit wants the senate to carefully look into Gachagua’s impeachment motion. The archbishop has of late been advocating for peace mostly advising leaders to do what is right. Bishop Jackson Ole Sapit of the Anglican Church of Kenya has recently advised the Senate to tread with caution over the impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Speaking during a service held to honour Bishop David Mutisya at ACK St. Peters Pro-Cathedral in Garissa County, Ole Sapit called on elected Senators to carefully interrogate if the impeachment motion before them was based on merit. “The Senate has been given a mandate as the upper house to hear and determine the impeachment case in a way of creating checks and balances after Parliament voted on the motion. They should look into the case carefully.” Bishop Ole Sapit  further asked the public leaders to undertake audits like the one Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was subjected to. “Why don’t we find a way to conduct audits on every elected leader, the way Gachagua was forced to undergo so that we can know those who have taken public funds and abused their positions, so that we can promote responsibility to all of us.’’ According to him, there is a huge trust deficit in leadership in the country which slows service delivery and impedes justice. “We are living at interesting times, no leader or very few leaders in our dispensation today both at national, county and church can be able to invite people and publicly ask them to testify what they have done for we have had a deficit of being trustworthy. We are very eager to point fingers at others while we are equally guilty as charged for greed has taken over.” He went on to condemn greed as a vice that robs the people of their rightful share in the country noting that politicians are in haste to accumulate wealth illegally.  “What we are seeing around us is a spirit of amassing wealth at the expense of others.” Ole Sapit concluded by urging leaders to do a personal accountability test and live with dignity stating that peace and love are the only way out.

Gachagua

DP Rigathi Gachagua: “Irrespective of what happens, I am calling for peace in Embu, Mt Kenya and all of Kenya.”

Gachagua urges Kenyans to remain peaceful no matter the outcome of his impeachment. His comment comes with a few days remaining for the senate to decide his fate in the political career. Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua today was seen in public for the first time since he was impeached by the parliament. Addressing the his region, during the 34th diocesan anniversary celebrations at St Mark’s Teachers Training College in Embu, Gachagua  urged calmness regardless of the outcome of his impeachment. ‘’Irrespective of what happens, I am calling for peace in Embu and Mt Kenya and all of Kenya. We only have one Kenya and not any other country.’’ However the DP did not go deeper into the matter of the impeachment noting his confidence in the judiciary.  “We have faith in our courts, and I am certain that our judges will uphold the Constitution and ensure the will of the people prevails.’’ His legal team has filed a petition arguing that he was not given sufficient time to respond to the allegations, which include 11 charges presented by Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse. Tensions continue to remain in the Mt Kenya region, especially where chaos erupted shortly after Gachagua’s impeachment by the National Assembly, particularly in Gachagua’s home town, where clashes were seen during public participation forums meant to gather input on the impeachment motion. DP Gachagua’s political fate now rests with the Senate, which will examine the evidence and arguments presented by Mutuse.  However, the National Assembly maintains that the courts should not interfere, citing the principle of separation of powers.

Ruto

Ruto addresses The Reason Why He Canceled His Visit To Embu County

President William Ruto canceled his visit to Embu County so that he can attend the 30th anniversary celebration at AIC Milimani Church. According to the President, he opted to attend the celebration since that’s where he calls home. President William Ruto has finally broken silence on the reason why he decided to cancel his visit to Embu County. Speaking at the AIC Milimani Church in Nairobi, Ruto noted that he opted to attend the church’s 30th anniversary celebration instead, citing a long-standing connection with the congregation. The president was originally scheduled to lead the 34th diocesan anniversary at St Mark’s Teachers Training College, Kigari, but canceled just hours before the event. His absence was notable as it came on the same day  his DP was making his first public appearance since the contentious impeachment vote in Parliament. According to Ruto, his commitment to the AIC Milimani celebration was personal, describing the church as his home further  emphasising  his history with the congregation, recalling how it grew from 10 families to 3,000 members over the years. “I missed the 25-year celebration. I was not going to miss the 30-year one.”   Ruto however did not address the rift within the Mt Kenya region or the impeachment debate, something which has triggered political fallout across the country.  His silence on the matter contrasts with his usual hands-on approach, leaving many to wonder if the cancellation was a strategic move to avoid escalating the situation.

A Motion Changing The Process Of Impeachment for Presidents, Deputy Presidents, and Governors To Be Presented

Petition seeking to change the  process of impeachment in different leadership positions to be filed. According to the petition referendum should be involved before any elected leaders can be impeached. A Member of Parliament has  recently threatened to present a motion changing the process of impeachment for Presidents, Deputy Presidents, and Governors. According to Manyatta MP Gitonga Mukunji, there has to be amendments that would require a referendum before any elected leader can be removed from office.  His  proposal aims to empower voters, ensuring that the decision to impeach rests with the electorate rather than a small group of lawmakers. The petition continues to argue that it is fundamentally unjust for a leader elected by millions to be subjected to the whims of a few. Further  claiming that the current impeachment process is susceptible to misuse, with lawmakers often exploiting it to settle personal grievances.  “When someone is being impeached, the voters should have the final say.”  The Constitution permits the impeachment of Governors and their deputies if a majority of Members of County Assembly support the motion, which after that leads to the senate. MP Mukunji’s proposal seeks to shift this balance of power by mandating a referendum that engages voters directly, ensuring their voices resonate in significant political decisions.  If the motion becomes successful, this reform could redefine the relationship between elected officials and their constituents, transforming the impeachment process into a more democratic and participatory affair.
