Reason Why Babu Owino Skipped DP Gachagua’s Impeachment

Babu  Owino had important things to deal with in his constituency that’s why he skipped Gachagua’s impeachment. Gachagua becomes the first DP to be impeached by MPs since the implementation of the 2010 constitution. Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has broken his silence over the impeachment proceedings against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Clearing the air on why skipped the process, Babu Owino noted that there are more important things to deal with right now than wasting the whole day discussing Rigathi Gachagua. Among what he termed  to be serious issues are; the Adani deal, new university funding model, social health insurance  fund  ,high cost of living, high taxation, unemployment among others. ‘’How can I waste my precious whole day discussing Rigathi yet we have serious issues like Adani, new university funding model, Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), high cost of living, high taxation, unemployment among others.’’  According to the MP, he will stay away from Parliament chambers if non-issues are being debated, urging that he would only make an appearance when issues of importance are discussed in the house. He further confirmed that he took his time to engage on important issues affecting his constituency during the impeachment debate, pointing out that it was the sole reason for his absence. ”You’ll see me in parliament when these issues are presented but they will not bring them. I was highly engaged with other important and urgent matters affecting my constituents. The speed with which Rigathi was impeached should be the same speed used to solve Kenyans challenges.’’ Babu Owino was among the MPs who skipped the exercise. Others MPs who missed  were Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris and her Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro whose silence in the entire saga baffled Kenyans. Gachagua was yesterday impeached by the National Assembly with 281 members voting in favour of his impeachment.

In a recent press briefing at his home in Nairobi, the spokesperson of Morara’s family asked Kanja to arrest the perpetrators  who attacked Kebaso with immediate effect.  “The IG and your team, where are those people who attacked Kebaso before the media? Can we see them being arraigned in court? That is our request, while a frail Kebaso looked on. We are here to condemn what happened at the Bomas of Kenya when the young man Morara was attacked.” Last week during the DP’s impeachment public participation exercise, Morara was denied entry to the venue at Bomas of Kenya and after a while he was allowed to enter with his security personnels and hell broke loose when he took to the stage to give his opinions.
