Pep Guardiola Rattled by Liverpool as Crisis Continues, Reds Go Nine Clear

Pep Guardiola’s poor run at Manchester City this season has now gone beyond repair, and as he puts it, the Premier League defence might be over. A 2-0 defeat at Anfield saw his side extend their losing streak in the Premier League to 4 games and six games overall, their worst run in decades. After going two up, Liverpool fans could be heard excitedly singing ‘You’re getting sacked in the morning’ while taunting a bleak Pep. The manager, known for his fiery vibe on the touchline, played it cool at once before coming out with six fingers held up as he gave it back to the Liverpool faithful. This symbolised the six Premier League titles he had won with City, something Liverpool have only achieved once under Jurgen Klopp. The Champions are now left in the fifth spot, and they could be fighting for the top four now that even their manager believes it will be difficult to catch up.   Liverpool go 11 clear of City The Reds seem to be maintaining their great form by winning games, with Mo Salah showing why he deserves that new contract. Despite Arsenal beating West Ham 5 goals to 2 away from home, Liverpool’s biggest win so far of the season helped them advance to a place no one will be expecting to see them take lightly. With experienced players such as Van Dijk, Salah, Trent Alexander Arnold and Alexis Mac Allister, they are surely set to perform despite a few injuries in defence.

Pep and Spurs

Manchester City Humiliated at Home by Spurs as Arsenal Get Huge Win

Manchester City lost their Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspur after the November International break, making it five losses in a row since the 2000s. This was also the first time that Pep Guardiola has lost five games in a row in his entire managerial career, and it came just days after he signed a new two-year contract at City. Despite a good start to the match, City failed to take their chances, and this was punished in the 13th minute from great play by Dejan Kulusevski to give birthday boy James Maddison a tap-in goal at the far post. It turned from bad to worse for City as a great interplay by Son Hueng-Min, and Maddison saw the 28-year-old English man get his second for the night just 8 minutes later. City fail to come good Just minutes into the second half, Spurs secured the three points after a goal from right-back Pedro Porro after great work from Dominic Solanke. Despite changes by Pep to introduce Jack Grealish and Kevin De Bruyne 15 minutes to the end, it didn’t help as Brennan Johnson added a fourth in added time to embarrass the champions at home. City remain in second spot in the table despite the loss, but the gap between them and leaders Liverpool could go up to eight points with a Liverpool win against Southampton on Sunday, November 24. Arsenal win to maintain fourth spot Arsenal were also huge winners on Saturday football against high-flying Nottingham Forest, with Saka, who scored the first goal, bossing it. Thomas Partey scored the second goal early in the second half, and the promising talent of Ethan Nwaneri came on in the final minutes to grab a third. Achievement unlocked: 2,000 top-flight wins ✅ — Arsenal (@Arsenal) November 23, 2024 The win leaves Arsenal in fourth place, six points behind leaders Liverpool. Chelsea also came out at Leicester with all three points after holding on to win 1-2 despite a late scare from a Jordan Ayew penalty. A goal from Nicolas Jackson and Enzo Fernandez in both halves consecutively saw Chelsea maintain the third spot with the same number of points as Arsenal but with a better goal difference. On Sunday, November 23, Liverpool will face Southampton at the St Mary’s Stadium before Ruben Amorim faces his first test as Manchester United manager away at Ipswich.
