President Ruto Responds to Kenyans who have been criticising the government on the plans to modernise JKIA

President William Ruto has recently lashed out at Kenyans who have been criticising the government on the plans to modernise the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport through private-public partnerships, terming them as unpatriotic. Speaking during the opening of Devki Iron Ore Pelletisation Plant in Taita Taveta, Ruto insisted that the government will not disembark from the plans to modernise JKIA. According to him, those attacking the government, particularly on social media, lacked alternative ideas on how best to develop key infrastructure such as airports despite their criticisms.  He went on to accuse them of sabotaging investors who had shown interest in investing in Kenya. “Sometimes, when we have people who believe in Kenya, who want to invest in Kenya, such people, we sabotage them yet the people who sabotage our country, we glorify them as if they were anything. Recently, I saw other people glorify those who stopped the construction of the airport as heroes, what heroes? The airport is in a tent. Other countries are building their airports yet ours is not built. What gain do you get when you stop the building of an airport in your country and you lack alternative ideas and you have no clue how it will be built.’’ He moreover defended the government’s plans to bring in the Indian conglomerate of companies Adani International, insisting that the plans were in the best interest of the country. adding that the government is still committed to its plans to modernise the JKIA despite the exit of Adani from the project. “Let me assure you we are going to build a new airport in Kenya. We may have stopped Adani from doing it. I was confident he was going to build our airport and he was going to do a good job but because of the law barring us from engaging with people who have cases, we stopped it but that does not mean we are not going to build the airport. We are going to get a new framework, we are going to work with people who believe in this country to build a new airport for us because that is what the future looks like,” he stated.

Wajackoyah

George Wajackoyah will be on the presidential Ballot again in the next General Elections

Former presidential aspirant George Wajackoyah has officially announced his bid for the top seat in the upcoming 2027 General Election. Speaking during an interview at K24, Wajackoyah noted that his decision had been motivated by how President William Ruto treated fellow aspirants upon winning in 2022. “I came here to officially announce that I am on the ballot in 2027 and I will not be stopped. I am running again because I am bitter. Ruto could have sat with us at the beginning and asked us if there was any way we could help. He should have asked our colleagues instead of us having to kneel to beg for a job and start singing. I refused and I am refusing today.” In the last general election Wajackoyah alongside running-mate Justina Wangui only managed to scoop four per cent of the votes despite a rigorous campaign that garnered him a huge following both online and offline.  Wajackoya has disclosed that he has begun speaking to churches and people on the ground to gather insight on what he did wrong during his previous unsuccessful bid and how he could improve this time round. “Anglican Bishops are now calling for me while previously they saw me as a crazy person. The media played a big role in pushing the narrative of ‘mtu wa bangi. People did not understand that I was not talking about smoking bhang but domestic hemp products for cosmetic purposes as well as for medicinal purposes to treat diseases like cancer and Covid.” In his 2022 manifesto, Wajackoya mostly  pushed for the legalisation of bhang, a decision that he believed would help alleviate the debt crisis in the country.

Suna East MP Junet Mohammed Proposes Scrapping Public Participation to Accelerate Development

Minority leader Member of Parliament Junet Mohammed has proposed for the elimination of public participation in development project. This he said on Monday 2nd 2024 in Taita Taveta as he accompanied the head of State. He argued that the process creates unnecessary bottlenecks, delaying the government’s agenda. Serikali inachaguliwa ndio ilete maendeleo kwa nchi (Government is chosen to bring prosperity) …lakini kama serikali ikitaka kufanya kazi yake inawekewa vikwazo (But if the government wants to do its work and there is boundaries). The Suna East MP said. Hii mambo ya kuomba ruhusa kwa kila mtu lazima ikwishe (This thing of borrowing permission from everyone must come to an end). Serikali haiwezi omba ruhusa mahakama na Kanisa ati ndio waweke stima (Government must not borrow permission from court and church to put electricity) The National Assembly Minority Leader added. He emphasized citing an example on recent controversies such as the cancellation of the Adani Group’s deal to upgrade JKIA and KETRACO where he said the Head of the Republic has said if the Citizens have refused then the government wouldn’t push forward with them anymore for the cancellation of the projects with the Adani. Based on new information provided by our investigative agencies and partner nations, the procuring agencies must immediately cancel these deals and initiate fresh negotiations with credible partner. The President has said as he declared the State of Nation on November 21st. While stating out his argument, Junet used Tanzania as an example and argued that Tanzania had proceeded with the same partnership to revamp the airports, why couldn’t Kenya do so?

Raila: “A trap was set up to catch a mouse, but the one who set up the trap was the one who went down.”

Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga has waded into former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s woes, throwing shade at Gachagua who was hounded from office by his own party. Addressing a gathering during ODM Deputy Party Leader Godfrey Osotsi’s Thanksgiving ceremony, Raila left the crowd reeling in laughter after his narration of how Gachagua embarked on a futile mission to ensnare him with traps only to end up being the victim. “A trap was set up to catch a mouse, but the one who set up the trap was the one who went down.” He further noted how Gachagua went about thumping his chest and declaring himself as the gatekeeper of the State House who would ensure no cooperation between Odinga and the Kenya Kwanza regime. “He went to State House talking about how he was setting up a trap for Baba. He said there would be no handshake, no coalition government (Nusu mkate). Where is Gachagua now?” Months before Gachagua’s  impeachment, the former DP hailed the success of his traps and declared that they were effective to a point that Raila’s first meeting with President William Ruto had to be outside the country. “My traps were working very well because even that time they decided to meet, they did so in Uganda as they watched Museveni’s big horned cattle,’’ Gachagua noted. Shortly afterwards, Rigathi Gachagua was impeached as the Second in Command and swiftly replaced with Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.

Kalonzo Musyoka criticises the government over increasing cases of abductions

Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has recently criticised the government over increasing cases of arbitrary arrests and abductions allegedly done by security agencies disguised as civilians. Speaking during a church service at St. Joseph Worker Parish in Race Course Nakuru, Kalonzo accused the government for keeping quiet when abductions continue to happen all over the country. He gave an example of the recent case of arrest of billionaire businessman Benson Ndeta of Savannah Clinker who has put in a bid to take over Bamburi Cement. The businessman was arrested on November 28 and charged in court a few weeks after his company proposed to pay Ksh 25.41 billion for the giant Bamburi Cement Company, outbidding his competitors, the Tanzania-based conglomerate Amsons Industries. According to Kalonzo, the arrest of the business magnet was related to the affordable housing project advanced by the Kenya Kwanza regime. “All these fights are linked to the affordable housing project. A Kenyan businessman, well organised, got the bid and now they want to stop him,” he explained. Kalonzo moreover called on the church to pray over the worrying trend of abductions warning that many families are in distress not knowing the fate of their abducted kin. Talking of the taxes, Kalonzo noted that the taxes imposed on people are too high leaving most Kenyans with nothing to take home in the wake of hard economic times. “Kenyans have no problem with paying taxes, but the problem is that taxes end up in people’s pockets.’’
