CS Duale Criticises Gachagua After Remarks Against Ruto’s Administration

Environment Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has recently criticised former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over his recent sentiments against President William Ruto’s administration. Taking to his X account, the CS slammed Gachagua for accusing the government of deliberately targeting the Mt Kenya region residents with illicit alcohol. Duale termed Gachagua’s sentiments as unfortunate, irresponsible, and reckless, further adding that the statements were aimed at inciting Kenyans. He moreover advised Gachagua to rise above ethnic politics, exercise patriotism and maintain the morality of a good leader, further warning the DP that history would judge him harshly. “Hon Gachagua, you were once the Deputy President, this statement is unfortunate, irresponsible, incitement, and reckless. History will judge you.History will judge you. Don’t lower the bar for good leadership, rise above ethnic chieftains. Be a Democrat.”  Duale’s comment comes days after the former DP accused President Ruto of instructing Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo to order the reopening of all alcohol stores including companies that manufacture the drinks. The former DP faulted the government for allegedly weakening his previous efforts in fighting against drug and substance abuse. “The Interior Security PS was instructed by the President to reopen all those alcohol factories, and they were urged to sell the alcohol exclusively in Mount Kenya. It is not sold in Rift Valley or anywhere else. Yesterday, three people died in Bahati. Since they forced me out of office, the President has ordered all the illicit alcohol that kills people to be brought here to destroy our young people,” the former DP noted. His allegations were later dismissed by PS Omollo who termed the former DP’s remarks as inflammatory and politically motivated. Moreover, Omollo noted that the government does not produce, distribute or retail any alcoholic drinks and the problem of substance misuse affects people from all walks of life, including parents and children. “We take great exception that such grave national matters can be trivialized by one individual, on a church podium nonetheless, without empathy for the families that may be struggling with this crisis,” PS Omollo said.

Mithika Linturi Criticises Ruto’s Recent Appointments

Former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi has criticised President William Ruto’s administration over unfair appointments to government. Speaking during a church service in Meru County, Linturi accused the president of lack of inclusivity after recently nominating more people for cabinet secretary positions. Linturi went on to question the President for excluding the Meru community in the recent nominations despite overwhelmingly voting for him in the 2022 general elections. “We are tired of being taken for granted and treated as second fiddle. We are very important people. Our 800,000 votes must count, and we are now wiser than before. We were lied to, and we felt the effects. The people of Meru must be respected. We are tired of being contemptuously looked down upon. We have been sidelined as if we hold no value in this country.’’ The former CS went on to criticize the current administration for what he termed a culture of deceit, adding that Kenyans were now more astute than before. He moreover expressed regret for failing to secure a formal agreement with Ruto to ensure the inclusion of the Meru people in government. “We have now become more knowledgeable and discerning. Moving forward, we have learnt from our past mistakes. Now that we are informed, we will not repeat them, and I want this to be clearAt present, appointments are being made, yet we are nowhere to be seen. Respect for the people of Meru must be restored, and we shall work tirelessly to reclaim the dignity of the Meru people.”

PS Omollo Addresses Gachagua’s Remarks Accusing Government of Distributing Illicit Alcohol to Mt Kenya Residents

The Ministry of Interior has dismissed former DP Rigathi Gachagua’s remarks accusing the government of deliberately targeting the Mt Kenya region residents with illicit alcohol distribution. The Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo termed the former DP’s remarks as inflammatory and politically motivated. According to the PS, the government does not produce, distribute or retail any alcoholic drinks and the problem of substance misuse affects people from all walks of life, including parents and children. “We take great exception that such grave national matters can be trivialized by one individual, on a church podium nonetheless, without empathy for the families that may be struggling with this crisis. It is therefore in bad faith and disingenuous of Gachagua to turn around, after serving this country at the highest office, and lay such ludicrous claims on such a sensitive matter.” He further called on the former DP to file an official complaint and present the evidence he may hold to investigative or enforcement officers. Omollo moreover urged Kenyans particularly parents to protect their children from harmful substances, especially during this festive season. His statement comes a few hours after the former DP took a swipe at President William Ruto’s administration for allegedly facilitating the distribution of illicit alcohol in the Mt Kenya region. Gachagua accused the government of allegedly watering down his previous efforts in fighting against drug and substance abuse by allowing its sale, particularly in Mt Kenya. He noted that the Head of State allegedly instructed PS Raymond Omollo to order the reopening of all alcohol stores including companies that manufacture the drinks. “The Interior Security PS was instructed by the President to reopen all those alcohol factories, and they were urged to sell the alcohol exclusively in Mount Kenya. It is not sold in Rift Valley or anywhere else. Yesterday, three people died in Bahati. Since they forced me out of office, the President has ordered all the illicit alcohol that kills people to be brought here to destroy our young people.”

Gachagua Alleges that Ruto is Using Illicit Alcohol to Reduce Mt Kenya Votes

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has once accused President William Ruto, this time accusing him of facilitating alcoholism in the Mount Kenya region. Speaking during a church service in Naivasha, the former DP claimed that, despite having won the fight against alcohol and drug abuse in the region during his tenure as Deputy President, the President had undone his efforts. “The Interior Security PS was instructed by the President to reopen all those alcohol factories, and they were urged to sell the alcohol exclusively in Mount Kenya. It is not sold in Rift Valley or anywhere else. Yesterday, three people died in Bahati. Since they forced me out of office, the President has ordered all the illicit alcohol that kills people to be brought here to destroy our young people.” He went on to recall warning the President against reopening the companies when he was in office, but his pleas went unheard. He suggested that this move was a calculated effort by the President to reduce the voter population in the Mountain region. “Police and chiefs have been instructed to allow people to continue drinking the deadly alcohol, so the number of registered voters decreases. It is immoral; it is unacceptable to target a community for destruction and extinction through the sale of poison to them. It is entirely possible to end the war on alcoholism because I had already achieved it.” Gachagua further urged the President to visit the Mountain instead of waiting for tempers to calm, and to address the questions they had. Among the questions he wanted the President to answer was why he considered Kenyans ‘stupid’ for refusing to vaccinate their livestock. He also pointed out the criticism of the clergy by the President and reminded him that they had held his hand and prayed for him during the campaigns.
