Murkomen Claims No Kenyan Has Died In The Hands Of The Police Since Ruto Took Office

CS for Interior Kipchumba Murkomen has claimed that no citizen has been killed by police since President Ruto became the President of Kenya. His statement disregarded the fact that there were documented deaths during the anti-finance bill protests. Murkomen’s statement came days after Law Society of Kenya, Human rights and other firms including fellow Kenyans raised their concerns about abductions and killings. According to the reports, the cases of abductions since the anti-protest in June was recorded to be over 82 while 29 still missing as of December. It was reported that those Kenyans were being abducted in broad daylight and among the reasons was because they criticized the government online. According to the reports, during the anti-protest, several people were killed on live camera, especially those who journeyed to protest in State House to stop the Bill from being implemented. Murkomen recently said that no citizen had been killed by police under Ruto’s administration. Since President Ruto took reigns of office, there is no single citizen who has been killed by police, nor has there ever been a policy of killing people the way we used to see bodies in River Yala and others in River Tana. Since he took office in two years, nobody has been killed.  The Interior Cabinet Secretary said.

Babu Owino Wants the National Assembly to hold a Special sitting to tackle the issue of Abductions

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has requested a special sitting in the National Assembly to tackle the current  issue of abduction in kenya. The MP wrote a letter addressing the Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula on Sunday, December 29. Babu Owino noted that the public was unsettled since the whereabouts of some of the individuals remained unknown to date. According to the MP all the individuals who went missing had one thing in common – they openly criticised the Kenya Kwanza Government at some point. “There is growing public anxiety over the role of state agencies in these abductions, particularly the involvement of the National Intelligence Service (NIS), the Inspector General of Police, and the role of telecommunications companies. In light of these disturbing developments, I request that the National Assembly urgently convene a special sitting before the scheduled vetting of Cabinet nominees.” Babu Owino believes the sitting will offer a platform to bring several key stakeholders in national security to book. He went on to note that the Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, Director of Criminal Investigations Amin Ibrahim and the new Cabinet Secretary for Interior Mr Onesmus Murkomen needed to answer pressing questions regarding the state of security in the country. However, Last week IG Kanja openly distanced the country’s security agencies from any wrong-doing in the alleged abductions – sentiments which thoroughly angered Babu Owino, who called for the IG’s resignation. CS Murkomen also denied any police involvement in the abductions, stating that anyone arrested by the police ought to be taken to court within 24 hours.

MP Oscar Sudi threatens to sue Morara Kebaso Over Photo With Kasmuel McOure

Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has threatened to sue activist Morara Kebaso over alleged defamatory remarks. In a demand letter shared by his lawyers, Limo and Njoroge Advocates, the MP accused Kebaso of sharing a photo showing Sudi engaged in conversation with Kasmuel McOure to his 280,000 followers on X account with a caption he considered defamatory. “We act for Hon Oscar Kipchumba Sudi, the sitting Member of Parliament for Kapseret Constituency, whose stellar reputation, earned through years of public service and business acumen, you have maliciously and recklessly defamed through your publication on the X platform (formerly Twitter) dated 22 December 2024 at 11.21 AM,” the law firm stated. The lawyers also indicated that Morara violated the law by defaming Sudi through direct reference and innuendo. The controversy arose from Kebaso’s post on December 22, where he shared images of Sudi alongside artist Kasmuel McOure. According to Sudi through his lawyers, the accompanying text suggested that Sudi was involved in the tragic killing of Gen Z protesters for personal gain during the anti-finance bill demonstrations, sparking significant public reaction due to Kebaso’s large following on X. The law firm went on to issue three demands on behalf of their client to Kebaso, amongst them a written, unconditional, and unreserved apology.  Other demands were an immediate admission of liability and an express undertaking to not publish any defamatory photograph or statements that can be inferred by innuendo referring to Sudi again. “We are going to file a lawsuit in the coming week from Monday, December 30, 2025, to Wednesday January 1, 2025, thereabout, after Kebaso indicated that he would not heed our demands.”
